is the host for AC 2007 decided yet?

if yes, where is it being held?

if no, who are the candidates for the next asian cup?

I dont think a host has been decided yet, but i'm betting that there will be 3-4 SE-Asian countries co-hosting.

Wouldn't that mean the SE Asian nations would get automatic bids then? That will piss off a lot of the lower seeded teams. The Top 3 or 4 teams would probably welcome it though, because it would be "neutral site."

You mean automatic qualifications? I'd agree, as in the current tournament only Indonesia and Thailand were present from SE Asia and unfortunately they didn't do so well. I'd say those middle east countries really made some big strides in this Cup, esp. Oman, Jordan and Bahrain. It will be a shame to see any of them or countries like TKM or UZB missing out in the next Cup. (Unless SE Asia improve a lot in the next 3 years... hm)

I think they should place the 4 teams in a group and play away and home, top 2 qualify, or something like that.

I really don't like the idea of co-hosting, especially as they would probably give automatic qualification to the hosts.

At the same time, lack of suitable venues is a problem. I think part of the problem in this Asian Cup is that they play so many matches in such a short interval on the same pitch, you get a problem like the PK shootout controversy in Japan vs Jordan.
It was the 6th match there in a little more than a week? That had to have an effect on the field conditions.

I don't know, maybe they can have one country be the official host nation, but hold matches in surrounding nations. Rugby World Cup did this when Wales was the host - they played matches in Scotland, England, Ireland and France because Wales is too small for a full tournament.

    Check this out.

ASEAN quartet to host 2007 Asian Cup
    http://www.asiancup2004.com/en/news/index.asp?aid=36595&cid=1129&amth=8&ayr=2004

BEIJING – The Asian Football Confederation announced Friday that the next edition of the Asian Cup in 2007 will be co-hosted by four South East Asian nations – Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam.

    *snip*

While the next Asian Cup will break with the traditional four-year cycle for the 2007 event, it will revert to being a quadrennial event in 2011, when Central and South Asia are slated to host the tournament.

This is so insane! 4 countries to auto qualify with out any effort? They dont even know that soccer is played with a ball....KCUF !! I don't think its a good way to go for it.

Some other countries deserve to host the game.In my view Bahrain ,Oman think Jordan are going for it.
Jordan, since they r building 3 new stadiums of a 60,000 and 80,000 capacities, and they already got 4 good ones. Each stadium has it own Hotel, and travelling is easy.
I think JFC,OFC and BFC are not goin to be quite on that. The competition among them is so hot.
I cant believe this bull ******** fom AFC agian....They r wide far away with their minds.
    Please dont make this happen....Errr.
