We have a new striker. Nonda from Monaco has come over on a free transfer. All I know about him is he's 28 and was top scorer in France in the 02/03 season. If anyone who has seen him play could tell us more about him that'd be great.

Yes, but I still think we desperately need a solid
right-back. Neither Ferrari nor Pannucci can hack
it there . . . I would love to see Roma chase after

Roma have made some smart acquisitions. Hopefully they can re-sign Cassano and not let him go off to Giuve.

The Channel 4 website says these free acquisitions may be part of a deal with Giuve in which Giuve agreed not to pursue these players and Roma lets the evil ones sign Cassano.

According to the Spanish paper La Marca, Roma has made Real Madrid an offer for Guti.

This would help the midfield problem which Roma has. What do others think?

The Spanish paper La Marca is quoting a Roma daily stating that Real Madrid has offered Roma 15 million euros for Cassano and are willing to up the offer to 18 million. Roma reportedly wants the 15 milllion and Guti.

This would mean no Cassano at Juve and would bring Roma a decent midfielder. On the other hand, Spalletti has been quoted as saying he wants to keep Cassano.

La Gazzetta dello Sport says Juve is in front in the race for Cassano with 2 options. One is Miccoli and 8 million euros (plus 7 million to Fiorentina for Miccoli) or 10 million euros with Appiah and possibly Massiello (young defender). Reportedly Juve is willing to finalize everything this week and Roma needs the money now.

Real Madrid is reportedly offering up to 18 million euros with Guti and Raul and/or Owen. But, they want to wait to August to finalize the deal.

To me the Madrid deal looks better for Roma, but they seem to want to do the deal by June 30.

thats impossible. this is never gonna happen. if roma could afford guti, owen and raul they would just give cassano what he wanted. the whole reason they are selling cassano is cause they need cash. especially now that they lost the mexes deal.

I agree. But maybe the 18 million and the money saved from Cassano's salary would pay for Guti and Raul or Owen. It is Raul or Owen. I erred when I put and/or. I have to say I am not a big Raul fan. I believe he is one of the most overrated players in the game. However, maybe Totti and a couple good midfielders could set him up for his typical tip-in goals.

There are also rumours of Guti going to Arsenal, Milan or Juve, so who knows at this point. I read another one today of Udinese's Di Michele wanting to come with Spalletti to Roma.

I made this the official transfer thread, since this board doesn't have one. Today was the co-ownership deadline. Roma gained full ownership of young goalkeeper Curci. Also, they extended the co-ownership deals with Palermo of defender Cesare Bovo and midfielder Valerio Virga. Virga will play with Palermo next season, while Bovo will play with Roma.

 

We got a defender. How sweet. Maybe he will be better than the useless Ferrari.

 

More rumours from Spanish paper La Marca on Cassano with Real Madrid, confirming what someone else posted on another thread from Domenica Sportiva. This rumour has Real paying 18 million euros to Roma over 3 years and loaning Cassano to Roma for this coming season.
