    Hi guys,

Are there any artificial pitches in J1 or J2? Also do any teams in J2 share stadiums or any time recently moved to a new stadium?

C'mon man, basic research here =P

No artificial surfaces in Japan, and as far as shared stadiums go Verdy and FC Tokyo both use Ajinomoto/Kokuritsu (and I wouldn't be surprised if Machida used Kokuritsu a bit this season as well).

haha cheers man. Just interested. You wouldn't believe the deadlines I have at the minute, I've been completely snowed under with pre-season reports on all J-League teams and the Asian Champions League. Talk about thrown in at the deep-end.

If I can get little info like this, it goes a long way.

BTW: I've been so impressed with the quality of pitches over here, especially at smaller clubs like Omiya Ardija and Shimizu S-Pulse. I think a few of the English Groundsman need to take note....

Omiya and Thespa both have games in Kumagaya. Machida and Verdy both have Komazawa games and some of the J1 teams and Verdy play at Kokuritsu

 Again, basic research! Not the biggest, but certainly not among the smaller.

HAHA apologies for the use of "smaller clubs".
I was only asking about stadiums and pitches, nothing about research of any kind, just an interest in how clubs operate in Japan. All this is new to me, I mainly specialise in League 2 and Conference football in the UK, so you guys will have to put up with my ignorant comments for a little while longer :)

Fair play. I was always going to jump all over that being an S-Pulse fan. :) Don't mean to be rude, but how come you've been charged with writing previews about the J. League when it's clearly not your area?

Good question :) - I normally looked after the lower leagues in England but moved out here with my Mrs who works at a law firm. My work offered my a job on the J-League, the first year they are trading on it. Basically I've previewed every club from head to toe, a nightmare considering my Japanese reading skills are poor. Once that's all sorted (nearly done), I just have watch every J -League and then report on what I've seen, for trading purposes.
I do trading myself, so I have to get it right, hence all the novice questions. :)
Once the season starts it will be a piece of cake, we had a module and I know what I'm looking for.
Plus, you weren't being rude mate, I'd ask the same questions :)

I believe Marinos will play a game at Mitsuzawa Stadium and YSCC in JFL (3rd. division) will play also ground share this season with Yokohama FC at Mitsuzawa.

btw. It ocurred to me just now that maybe the why japanese pitches are so neat could be because some pitchmen has done Golfpitches here?

I remember a english Watford fan living in Norway, was asked to be pitchman for Start Kristiansand when they build a new stadium a couple of seasons ago, his original job was pitchman on a golfcourse, and golf thats something which is huge here in Japan.

Something which I have always found a bit anomalous at Avispa is that the ground staff all appear to come from the Indian sub-continent.

They definitely do the advertising hoardings after the games, but I don't know if they also do the pitch. I've been wanting to ask them how they managed to get the job they're doing for a while, but I've never seen them outside of match-day.
The pitch at Level-5 is great, even though it is also used for Rugby and community matches.
