wenger's press conference today was a joke. he took a strop about questions re:contract and blackburn saying this was a pre-match conference for the cl match versus bayern munich and then when asked about bayern munich he says he doesn't want to talk about them today!

So here's a reason we can hope. Remember last season when Chelsea was shite? They were so bad and won the final, and finished what like 6th? We can do it! Then we don't have to finish 4th

I like your optimism. But alas you can't really make that comparison. RDM & AW are completely different managers. There is no way in hell that AW would ever bunker down and play possum for the counter attack. Chelsea did but we won't. Unless hell is about to freeze over.

Clearly we are now big underdogs in this tie. Maybe that will help. If the players can just play like there's nothing to lose, but with big urgency, who knows. If we play patient tippy-tappy sideways, we will need some incredible luck.

This is going to be ugly.

But at the end of the year, once Tottenham have imploded again and we slip into fourth, TA DA!, Arsene saves his job again.

Bayern will do everything to score an away goal, so no clean sheets tomorrow
Though same is for Arsenal, since Bayern conceded so many goals in the CL.

I think it will be a 2-2 draw, if Arsene has the guts to start with Podolski and Walcott on the wings instead of Gervinho.

Good luck guys you need it, just like we do against FC Referee

just being honest, or worried that we'll be hammered?
"We know Bayern are a strong side and we will concentrate on the quality of our game. The tie is played over 180 minutes, I have enough experience to know that you do not need to win the tie in the first half of the opening leg.

The first 90 minutes are on Tuesday night and we have to put in our head that we have 180 minutes to qualify and not rush our game. "

I say a bit of both and it makes sense. Keep it as close as you can and try to only think about this leg. If you try to get ahead of yourself, you risk opening the flood gates.

Indeed. We'll have to play the role of Blackburn in this one.

God, I'm so depressed bout this team.

Isn't that pretty much exactly how he got to the Final in 2006?

We are by far the best choke artists in European football...

I mean seriously look at our history who has a better record of losing in all those finals after leading most of the match? Or just flopping at the end??

99 vs manU 2010 vs inter 2012 vs Chelsea and that's just recent...

Just hoping that we can hold them at nil-nil or 1- nil(ideal) will give us a strong advantage going into the second leg. Looking at Bayern's roster, the odds are definitely against us.

Perhaps. You mean the one a few years ago w/ Arshavin's amazing winner?

I just rewatched the extended highlights of that on ATVO. Made it seem like we had quite a bit of the run of play, quite a few pacey attacks (which I would LOVE to see tomorrow!) but I couldn't get a sense that we were bunkering... I did see some high lines being played.

I'm feeling optimistic. These dudes were embarrassed on Saturday, and while most seem like they didn't care, all athletes have egos. I think this will be the game that pushes Jack to the next level, makes Arsenal his team on a global scale. Theo and Podolski both show up, and Cazorla makes us forget about Cesc for a night. 2-nil to the Arsenal.

Lovin your optimism Miles. Can't say I'd bet money on it, but I love it nonetheless.

So Gervinho left out of the squad completely! Didn't think Wenger had it in him
