Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory The Abbey kicks it up a notch, and kicks Slainte's ass. * Pub Name: Mulligan's on 1st * Pub Website: http://www.mulligansonfirst.com/ * Pub Address & Phone Number: 159 1st Street, Hoboken, NJ; 201-876-4101 * Setanta? YES * FSC? YES * ESPN? YES * Food? YES but not a big menu, mostly burgers & appetizers * Open early for the matches? YES * Favorite of local Gooners? Explained below Mulligan's is owned by a man who lives on my street, who let me know about it when I mentioned I'd gotten interested in "football." He's actually from Ireland so he knows how to set it up for an authentic feel. It's a short walk from the Hoboken rail and bus terminals, which also includes the PATH (Port Authority Trans-Hudson) subway from New York, which connects to the City subway's 6th Avenue lines, the B, D, F and V. PATH also goes to Jersey City and Newark. Despite that, it's pretty much just people from Hoboken there. Anybody who lives in Jersey City or Newark finds someplace closer or just goes to Nevada Smith's in New York. They played both Arsenal-Portsmouth on FSC and Chelsea-Fulham on Setanta. There were two Chelski fans there, a college-age guy and his date, and the amazing body she had by no means redeemed the Chav jersey she used to cover the upper half of it. I saw one ManUre jersey there, and it was on somebody, not in a frame on the wall. But he was hopelessly outnumbered. There are quite a few old jerseys on the walls, including a JVC Arsenal, a Chelsea jersey from when Emirates was their sponsor (I'd seen that logo on a blue Chelsea shirt before but it's still strange), a Spurs jersey with a sponsor I didn't recognize, and some Irish- (if not necessarily Republic of Ireland-)themed jerseys including a Celtic FC and a green one with George Best's name and Number 7 on it that I couldn't identify. But it's definitely a Gooner-friendly place. And right next door at 157 1st is a place selling soccer gear that will customize your jersey cheap.
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Pub Name: Iron Abbey Pub Location: 680 North Easton Road Horsham PA (40 minutes out of Philly) 19044 - 215.956.9600 Web site: www.ironabbey.com Setanta: Yes (but probably gone now they've folded) FSC: Yes ESPN: Yes Food: Oh yes. Try the King George Burger it is the best. And more beers than you know what do with Open early for matches: Yep Gooner following: Growing.
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Should have posted this a while ago. Pub Name: Mulligan's Bar & Grille Restaurant Location: 20880 Royalton Rd Strongsville, OH 44149 (440) 238-4447 Web site: none Setanta: yes, for now FSC: yes ESPN: yes GOLtv: yes Food: yes, typical bar & grill fare, plus a decent breakfast selection. cheap too. Not sure about the beer & booze (I don't drink) Open early for matches: yes Gooner following: unless I'm there or my brother, none (strong Chelsea support, though. good guys to watch matches with) Cleveland is pretty much a wasteland for Arsenal folk. There are a few places to watch matches and there may be a few Arsenal supporters. This place is reliable though. They are always open early, I've never shown up to be greeted with a locked door unlike other Cleveland area establishments. (ahem- the Pub- ahem)
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory A little information for those of you with a passport. Name: The Golden Lion Website: www.thegoldenlion.dk Address: Frederiksgade 76, Aarhus, Denmark Phone number: (+45) 86 12 60 35 Available channels: Sky Sports, Setanta, ITV, Canal+ and Viasat (2 TVs + 2 big screens) Food: Traditional English pub grub plus a daily Chef's Special. Mind, the kitchen's only open from late afternoon to the middle of evening. Specials: Wed: Curry Nigth, Sat: Full English Breakfast, Sun: Sunday Roast. Open early: Well, of course. Mon.- Fri., Sun.: 12:00, Sat.: 11:00. Local Gooner favourite: Not really (that's the awfull place known as Bridgewater Pub). Usually we're somewhere around five or six regulars who turn up everytime Arsenal's on which pretty much is every time Arsenal plays. Comment: English owners (one supports Ipswich, the other supports Hereford) so the place have a lot of ex-pat regulars. There's a mix of different supporters so expect some friendly banter (no aggro though). KJ
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Pub Name: AK O'Connors West Des Moines Pub Website Pub Address & Phone Number: 3530 Westtown Parkway West Des Moines, Iowa 50266 5154944573 (mine) Setanta: Yes FSC: Yes ESPN: Yes Food: Typical deep fried bar food (mozzarella sticks, taquitos, etc) Open early for the matches: Yes Favorite of local Gooners: About to be. The manager of the bar is a good friend and has FINALLY given me license to bring in customers as I see fit. Seeing how I lack a suitable venue to catch the game with other Arsenal fans, I told her every Saturday/Sunday I would come in at whatever time the Arsenal game is that week and open the bar and bartend for tips in hopes of creating a place that Gooners can regularly catch the match, regardless of time. The bar features 4 T.V's, two of them large HD flatscreens. I was told that if I can round up enough people (15-20), I am allowed to charge happy hour prices. If you or anyone you know is looking for a place in Des Moines to catch the game, let me know in advance as I'm not going to drive down to the bar to watch a game by myself that I can watch in the comfort of my own home.
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory For those in Indianapolis... Chatham Tap 719 Massachusetts Ave. Indianapolis, IN 46204 Phone: 317.917.8425 Hours: 11AM - 3AM Daily (Opens early for big matches - CL, Prem, FA) This is an odd place to watch matches - dominated by ManUr and Pool fans, but Arsenal contigent is strong and active. Yet, pub automatically segregates itself between fans and posers. Often Manur and Arsenal fans sit together and happily insult one another, but mainly get a laugh from making fun of all the posers in pub. Pub has many big screens, always shows football (will not switch over for other sports unless no one there). Good food and drink selection - staff happy to call a cab if you cannot drive This is a real football pub in Indianapolis - witnessed a family group in during Arsenal/Pool match that started complaining about fan cursing and vulgarity...staff told them that they would be better served going to another location!
Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Name: Auld Dubliner Site: http://www.aulddubliner.com/ Address: 71 S Pine Ave Long Beach, CA 90802-8158 Phone: (562) 437-8300 Setanta: Yes FSC: Yes ESPN: Yes Food: Yes! They just added a breakfast menu. Regular menu rocks, though. Pork chops, shepherd's pie and beef stew are my favourite. Open Early for Matches: Yes! They just started this past month. Gooners: There was another watching the Manchester United game with me. Otherwise, nothing yet. i'm willing to acknowledge my bias as i do spend a good bit of time there but you will have a tough time finding a cooler and more mellow bunch of bartenders anywhere. unless i'm watching a game, i'm usually out in the patio with the rest of the alcoholics. in either location, it's a great place to chill.

Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Forgot to put this up. When my mom was in Paris last season during April she always went to O'Brien's near Les Invalides for every match. The bartend is a Gooner and the match was always on. Obviously it's not a quaint little bar, but it works. By the end they all knew her and saved her a barstool, so it sounds like a pretty nice setup and management. Anyhow, here's the address 77 rue St. Dominique in the 7eme. http://www.obriens-pub.com/directions.html

Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory Pub Name: Gypsies Pub Website: None Pub Address & Phone Number: Woodvale Grove, Westlands, Nairobi, Kenya. Just ask. Everyone knows. Setanta: Doesn't exist. FSC: They won't know what you're talking about. Probably on one of the million Supersport channels. ESPN: Actually, yes. Food: Good range of bar-ish food Open early for the matches: N/A Favorite of local Gooners: Bound to be a number of Gooners around (locals and expats); Unfortunately, you'll also be able to count on some rabid Manure and Chelsea fans. Good energy though. Tons of flat screens. Alternatively, Carnivore usually has everything. So now when you go to Kenya, you know where to go.

It should catch on with the American University crowd as it's the only place close by. It is a favorite of the AU Rugby team who watched the 6 Nations there.

Also lunch and dinner for later games, of course. * Open early for the matches? - Opens at 9 Sat. & Sun.—if you want it to open early for a specific match you can call early and try your luck. In general I don't think they get enough of a crowd to make it worth their while unless it's a big game. * Favorite of local Gooners? - Several Arsenal fans put in appearances—I don't know of any places more gooners go—but there are also fans of various scum, too.

Re: Creating a new Arsenal Pub Directory If I have time this week and if everybody is okay with it, I'll organize all of the pubs by location, name, etc. into one (or a few) posts so people don't have to dig through the entire thread. Or if goonermaui just adds direct links to each post in his directory that might help people navigate quicker. Here are a few more to add to the list: The Olde Ship http://www.theoldeship.com/santa_ana.html 1120 West 17th St. Santa Ana, CA 92706 714-550-6700 Channels: Yes Food: Yes Open early for the matches?
