Fernandinho has been composed in midfield and is tackling well. Not sure what more you guys want from him. Unless the -inho in his name led you to believe he would do three rabonas after each tackle. I agree on Navas, however. Spanish Theo Walcott with less end product.
£30m is obscene for any defensive-midfielder imo, but they are Man City and they can afford it. At least they didn't spend £50m on a striker than had been out of form for a year. Honestly speaking though, the guy is a huge improvement from the lumbering Gareth Barry and makes them significantly stronger.
well, Gareth Barry really SHOULD have been out of the picture before Fernandinho came along anyway. with both Rodwell (yea yea, not the best, but better) and Garcia, there is really no point for Barry to be lumbering around their starting 11 anyway. i'm not disagreeing with your point, but just want to add the context that if they are playing two central mids, toure gets one spot, and they had some options already for the other spot beside Barry. besides, Barry was competent, but Fernandinho makes that area of the pitch MUCH more dynamic for them.
City looked scary good today. A plethora of talent, and Jovetic didn't even play. Newcastle look in a shambles, though, so we'll see how City looks vs a better team.
He'd look even more foolish and incompetent allowing Fellaini's buyout clause to expire, then offering more, right?
So thats what happens when you send the drama queens (Mancini, Balotelli, Tevez, etc.) packing. Interesting notion.......
I only saw first half but Fernadinho was caught out of position a bit, near Scholes-late on a couple tackles, slow reacting by a half-tick, and in a homage to Torres or an act of fairness passed the ball to the bar-codes a bit, so no I was not expecting samba-dinho just better fundamentals (ala Van Ginke; ); that said it was his first match here so not saying it defines him or his talent, it takes many a top player to the League various time to adjust.
He could always have offered less than the buyout, but it's been clear Everton didn't want to sell at the buyout to begin with!
wondering how much a poor Newcastle side played into the result but I think your point is still a very good one. With the respective cancers gone they really seem to be the team to beat- although I still was quite impressed with the Utd result this weekend.
Spurs allegedly closing in on Willian for 30 mil and also apparently working on a deal for Lamela with SkyItalia reporing a 93 million pound deal being done for Bale
the rest of the rags are running a host of stories about Arsenal buying everyone and Wenger being on borrowed time could see a real implosion there if he does not buy at least one, if not several, players by the close of the window I really do sense a panic buy or six on the horizon
Spurs are spending the Bale money, and IMO, could pitentually be a better side without him. Le Arse are in full panic mode. Their only buy could be a back up keeper. I'm truly amazed at the arrogance of Arsenal. You have to overpay in today's market. It's the nature of the beast. Yet they only offer dosh at the value they feel the player is worth. It doesn't work like that.
I think AVB is upgrading his side, but as billy pointed out a few pages back that he is doing little to address a defence which could use some upgrading as well. Lots of talk about Wenger recently including some from former well respected players and personnel associated with the club with several saying that Wenger does not want to spend the big money because then the expectation will be that he is sitting at the table with the other big boys and still not bringing any silverware home. I think the light is beginning to shine through the "Wenger develops youth" rubbish which has been perpetrated by a large portion of the Arsenal fanbase and the media for a while and the tough questions which should have been asked three, four or even five seasons ago are finally being asked now.
LOL Arsenal trolling those gooners professionally, spurs about to sign Lamela Coentrao & Willian, while arsenal twitter acc is running a quiz #ArsenalQuiz
