Defence Keep: sagna, clichy, gibbs, traore, eboue, sol, djorou, vermaelen NO need in mentioning the departing players, we all know the THREE that are OUT of contract (gallas, sylvestre, senderos). IN: we NEED atleast 2 centrebacks. ATLEAST 2, no ifs, ands or buts! we are fine at the FB position, however, at CB we are extremely thin. only vermaelen can be expected to get 30+ PL starts, djorou is an uncertainty due to his severe injury which i hear almost FINISHED his career. Big sol is 35 and should not be our #2 CB, again, Arsenal FC need to show there ambition this summer with some real quality defensive signings. onto you arsene.... Midfield fabregas, song, diaby, denilson, ramsey, lansbury, wilshere, rosicky, nasri means we are fine at this position. we could however use an experienced old head to give abit of steel and experience to the young midfielders. a bloke kinda like sol, who will have the same effect. you know, maybe re-signing vieira would've had the same effect as sol. we'll never know now... Forward arshavin, vela, RVP, bendtner, theo IN: apparently chamakh is signing so we should be good here. outs: i think its time for eduardo to go. he needs to resurrect his career and he just cant do it in england.
I Agree, not much of an Arsenal fan, but this is great. Fabregas should definitely stay in, and so with Arshavin.
don't forget we have Havard Nordtveit coming back from loan. he's made 19 appearances (14 starts) in the Bundesliga this year - 2 starts at centre back, 12 starts at defensive midfield. assuming we don't loan him out again, he's another name to add to the DM / CB mix. I could easily see us going with Vermaelen, Campbell, Djourou, Nordtveit, and 1 signing - that's plenty of depth IMO.
No its not. that leaves us with ONE proven, experienced PL defender- vermaelen. campbell is experienced but he is 35, there is only so much you can get from a man his age. he must choose and pick his games. he would be a great 3rd/4th choice but we NEED reinforcements. djorou seems to be back, and i hope he is, but still, taking another gamble on his injury when he has only managed 38 starts in 5 seasons is abit foolish. cover your ends arsene! i know about havard, but i also know about ayling and bartley. The former even started a CL game this season and will probably be hoping to join the first team this coming season. Im all for promoting youth from within, but do we want to go a 6th year without and trophys? minus that CL qualification trophy of course if we go into the season with only vermaelen, djorou, sol, and a few arsenal youngsters without signing 2 CB's, we'll have another season similar to the last 5. chamakh is coming, thats good. i think we can manage with the options we have. the MF is ok, but again, if we have so much money, why not sign an experienced old head who will be happy with 5-15 games a year collecting a nice check, you know, someone similar to sol. the defense needs addressing though. we don't necessarily need a GK'er, cause if szczesny comes back the real deal, im prepared to roll with him. He has presense, he has an aura about him, he has confidence in his ability and he KNOWS he is better than the current fools pretending to be arsenals # 1 & #2. the boy is ready, casillas, buffon, and reina were at his age.
I think Arshavin would be a likely candidate to leave, if approached by the right club and the right offer. He did relveal he wanted to go to barcalona, and with the most likly departure of Henry, Arshavin would be a more than capable replacement for him. Unless barca snaps up Fab first.
apparently, there is some french african by the name of diame playing for wigan, who likes the tackle, and has had a good season for wigan, and is a Beast of a man. could he interest wenger?
Sorry but Fabregas will go to Barcelona. But they will take Benzema from Real Madrid! Rosicky, Vela and Bendter will leave the club, too.
