While he was playing in Denmark for AGF Aarhus (and was reinvented from a winger to being a striker) some of the fans were using the nickname 'Footloose', but Denmark (beside the the "Danish" cake thing ) is also known for it's bacon export (I believe we are only 5.5 million people but produce around 28 million pigs a year), so the 'Bacon' nickname was obviously going to stick better for more than one reason. .
I like Footloose. Funny and appropriate for a player with quick feet and a good first touch. One thing is for sure. Aaron will have the most and best nicknames on the team: Bacon, Iceman, Footloose, what else? And we can throw in "Sweet Home Alabama" as his theme song.
Seriously watch his touches and his ability to slide past defenders...very very nice. hes 22....holy smokes.
I watched Johannsson play against Ajax last Sunday, and he was giving the Ajax defenders fits with stabbing attacks and great touch. His only score that game was a penalty, but his play opened up opportunities for others even if his finishing wasn't sharp yet.
Well, he managed to score 14 goals before the winter break in a league where the final topscorer hardly ever reach 20 goals in a full season.. he also managed to score the fastest hat-trick in the history of the Superliga, beating Ebbe Sand who only a few years later became topscorer in the German Bundesliga... .
Altidore's yellow card in Costa Rica tonight sees him suspended for next week's game against Mexico in Columbus. Could Johannsson be looking at his first start?
Recall that Altidore didn't start this game, and EJ was the first forward off the bench. I'd like to see AJ start, but it seems like JK has others ahead of him.
Kinda looks like someone or other produced that for him . . . . . I'm eager to see him play; I believe he can make a difference.
