Wow indeed! JK needs to be on the phone with this kid before sundown.

Simply put, this isn't just a hot start either. Going back to second half of last year, Aron Johannsson now has 16 goals in 24 games.

It would be a mistake to let him get away at this point. Jurgen most probably has already contacted him. I hope he takes a few weeks to seriously think about this decision.

and he's not even the HOTTEST US striker (Jozy Altdore, 17 goals in last 20 Erdivisie games!) :)

Still, we as USMNT fans will gladly accept a striker who can score 16 goals in 24 games in Denmark.

Two goals and an assist by Aron Jóhannsson against FCM in round 9 of the Superliga... and btw he is now only the 4th player to have scored 2 goals or more in 3 Superliga games in a row... not surprisingly one of the other strikers being Ebbe Sand, who also had scored the fastest Superliga hat-trick, before Aron Jóhannsson came along and took that record a few weeks ago...

No highlights from the FCM game as of yet, but I do have the 2-1 goal by Jóhannsson right here :

The good news is that this will likely all be over soon. It's not going to be like the Subotic saga that dragged on and on and on....

He will surely be called up by Iceland for the October WCQ games. If he accepts, he's tied to Iceland. If he rejects, Jurgen probably got to him.

Since the roster for the October games will be released in less than 3 weeks, we will all know sooner than later.

Is he even on the USMNT map? Does JK even know about the guy?

This pretty much says it all. I'm hopping he pulls a Chandler on Iceland until he sees that we are at least going to the hex.

Haha how greedy we are. We get angry with Chandler for possibly pulling this stunt and then encourage a guy whos come through the Iceland youth system to pull the same stunt on Iceland for us. I hope he chooses the country that he feels proud to play for. With that said, cap him now?

Since the past has proven that JK looks on this site for eligible YA, he definitely knows about him ;)

Yea he'd have to play but you'd think at that point Iceland would get him on the field sometime just to lock him up for the future.

what I like about this kid is he looks to have an arsenal of moves. The player that seems to always be involved is this Pertersen guy, he must be an assist machine!

Stephan Petersen is a kind of new "Dennis Rommedahl" in Danish soccer. Right now he is really on fire and then he is real top-class, but unfortunately he has the same flaws as Rommedahl, so he can also look quite invisible and terrible at times, but then by just one or two excellent moves/crosses be the one who totally change a game, so he is one of the AGF players the opponents always have their main focus on ... here is one example from the first round of last season, which also include some early Aron Jóhannsson, though his attempts are hitting the post twice in this match :

    That assist was slick.

JK is at least going to give him a call tell him he has an option.

This article came out yesterday in the Icelandic news website RÚV:

    Aron í viðræðum við AGF

According to the Google translation "clubs from England, France and Germany and AZ Alkmaar in the Netherlands have expressed interest in Aron".

The piece also seems to say these things, although the translation is not 100% clear:
    • Klinsmann has been monitoring him and has approached him about switching nationalities.
    • Right now he's not currently eligible to play for the USA.
    • His dream has always been to play for Iceland, but if he continues to be ignored by the 1st team then he'll certainly think about it.

If it's simply a matter of being snubbed by Iceland, that won't happen for much longer given his current run of form. The quote makes it sound like he is far more likely to play for Iceland than the US.

Who is this kid? A month ago he was just another striker in DENMARK and now he has our NT ready to invade Iceland for him. Which teams are tracking him?

Got to admit, he wont have a choice then. Good thinking.
