This shall be an interesting game, a game we can do some new things, as Batista has been saying. We will be without a #9 once again but will still have a pretty good team out there. The US have their own tourney in the summer and to build up a team for the Gold Cup. The US always shows up to big games so I hope our boys will be aware of that. I hope we win and hope we play with a bit of style. I am still waiting to see Pastore-Messi on the pitch at the same time longer then 15 minutes.

So I shall ask, what line-up do you want to see out there?

The backline looks solid, maybe Milito can take a backseat and we play Otamendi who is naturally a CB and not a RB which Diego played him as.

I would like to see Pastore in of these 2 games vs the US or Costa Rica. I am not overly worried with the US or Costa Rican counterattacks if Pastore loses the ball. Biglia I do not mind at all, but we can really use him vs the Costa Ricans.

Romero is injured, so Andujar will be the starter and Gabbarini the substitute.

    1. i'm going to the game - sitting in the ARG section behind the goal. hit me up if you're going too. i'll be wearing my JRR #10 NT jersey, sitting with 3 other gringos and my uncle LOL

    2. Lineup
GK - Andujar (i guess Romero is injured)
    DEF - Zanetti-Milito-Burdisso-Rojo
    DM - Mascherano-Banega
    AM - Di Maria-Pastore-Lavezzi
    FW - Messi

how funny that the team with the most depth of strikers in the world does not have a #9 playing...

    That is a good lineup,Furnaccio.
But the Americans are very organized,I think we will need a little more strength in the midfield, another stopper.

I am also going to the game,I have seats in midfield, row 30.
I am not sure about anything in the new stadium,to make an evaluation about how good or bad my seats are.
But last time we played here in old stadium,I only got seats all the way up and was a disaster.

    Here is the US Roster.

GOALKEEPERS (3): Marcus Hahnemann (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Tim Howard (Everton), David Yelldell (MSV Duisburg)

DEFENDERS (9): Carlos Bocanegra (Saint-Etienne), Jonathan Bornstein (UANL Tigres), Timothy Chandler (FC Nürnberg), Steve Cherundolo (Hannover 96), Jay DeMerit (Vancouver Whitecaps), Oguchi Onyewu (FC Twente), Tim Ream (New York Red Bulls), Jonathan Spector (West Ham United), Zak Whitbread (Norwich City)

MIDFIELDERS (9): Michael Bradley (Aston Villa), Clint Dempsey (Fulham), Mikkel Diskeruud (Stabaek), Landon Donovan (Los Angeles Galaxy), Maurice Edu (Rangers), Benny Feilhaber (AGF Aarhus), Stuart Holden (Bolton Wanderers), Jermaine Jones (Blackburn Rovers), Sacha Kljestan (Anderlecht)

FORWARDS (3): Juan Agudelo (New York Red Bulls), Jozy Altidore (Bursaspor), Edson Buddle (FC Ingolstadt)

I will be honest, I know little to nothing about the players here. Names like Donovan I know, and Howard who is a really good GK. Altidore was suppose to be something special when he played in the MLS over here. I see a blend of EPL players and smaller European sides. But as I said, we should not underestimate them, they are very much like the Mexican team, they are always up to playing the likes of us, and Brazil... So, I look forward to this match.

To anyone that's going to the game, if you are interested maybe we can hook up before the game and throw down an asado or something.

I don't like Burdisso-Milito in the middle, time to rejuvenate with Fazio and Garay or Otamendi. Zabaleta on the right and Rojo on the left.

Prediction for Argentina lineup which i hope...
    Andujar
    Zanetti Fazio Garay Rojo
    Masche Banega
    Pastore
    Lavezzi Messi Di Maria

fazio and garay seem our best options for up and coming center backs so why not start trying them out now. and rojo has a lot of potential i'd like to see him in the backline too. pastore MUST start, great game for him to show he can start for us in the copa america. i will be watching this game with 2 eyes wide open

I can tell you a little bit about the good players on this squad. Guy's with talent are Dempsey Donovan Holden Altidore and Feilhaber and Kleijstan also have some magic in their bags. But everyone else is very mediocre... Regarding their defense, they will start out strong, don't know how long they will last for. They have some big guys back there like Onyewu but Messi can easily shred him up. I expect the U.S. to line up like this
    Howard
    Spector Onyewu Demerit Bocanegra
    Holden Bradley Jones/Edu Donovan
    Dempsey Altidore

Clint Dempsey's idol growing up was Diego. His family traveled 3 hours to Dallas to see Argentina play against Bulgaria only to find out that Diego was suspended from the World Cup. He says that he cried and basically missed the game.

He's the only one on the US team that plays with heart, passion and skill all wrapped up into one. I love this kid

I wouldn't be making statements like this. Last time Messi was expected to shred the Americans up and nothing happened. Aguero and Messi BOTH DISSAPOINTED back in June of 08.

The USA national team remind me a lot of Stoke, very physical, hard to play against and have a very direct style of play, a limited team who make the best out of what they have. I'm not saying we will beat them easily, but we should win as we have the extra quality they do not possess.

It has to be said a defensive pairing of Burdisso and G. Milito had disaster written all over it.

and the fact diego used burdisso + demichelis + heinze in the world cup, it proof to be large scale natural disaster. Losing in football game is normal thing but when you conceided 3, 4, 6 goals regularly, you know there's something wrong with your defence.

Many times at Barcelona, Pique even defended Milito's part because he's not fast enough to closing the gap.

Until they could find a decent defender, I'm afraid even 2 Lionel Messi on the pitch cant win you a thropy

Argentinian football is unbalanced at the moment, in that we have so many strikers and talented midfield players, but an almost total lack of quality defenders. The fact that Burdisso, G. Milito, Heinze keep getting selected is evidence of that, the only genuinely world class defender we have is Samuel who is injured and 32. If we want to achieve anything at international level we are going to have to resolve that issue. To be fair to Maradona he did try and give Otamendi a chance, but he's not had a look in since Batista took charge. We have to start getting some young defenders in the squad.

Seems that there are rumors coming out of Germany that Evangelina Anderson was fcuking one of Demichelis' teammates. Which would explain his bad head and his departure from Bayern.
