So for the May 3rd game vs RSL the promotion is throwback game. Does that mean that the Fire are going to wear a red jersey with a white stripe?
I saw RSL and throwback on the schedule and thought "Ceremonial poorly driven penalty kick by Logan Pause to Nick Rimando to start the game?" Then I drank some scotch.
What a way to burn bridges. The Red Stars jerseys are going to out sell the Andy jersey at Toyota Park and then Andy will get mad and never want to host another double header with them again.
We've gone from red/white stripe primary jersey: To a red/NAVY stripe primary jersey: To now a NAVY/red no stripe primary jersey: #HauptmanOut
Pretending for a second he's not ignoring me: Yes, things change. I thought you guys wanted things to change. I mean, I get that you think that the fact that we have a different shirt than 15 years ago is some kind of indictment, but it isn't.
You are such a disingenuous asshat and the post below simply confirms that. I challenge you to find a single post, pre-navy stripe, where any single person asked for a change to the home shirt. We wanted changes to the guys in those shirts, but not the shirts. Some things do not change. I got hooked on the game 35 years ago, and guess what? Man United wore red shirts, white shorts and black socks. Arsenal wore red shirts with white sleeves, white shorts and white socks. Chelsea wore all blue with white trim and white socks. Brazil wore yellow shirts with green, blue shorts and white sox. AC Milan, Barcelona, Ajax, Italy, Spain, they ALL have maintained the same identity. Some MLS teams have rebranded, but those cases were necessary. The Fire was perfect. Now it's gone. You celebrate that. I do not.
I don't think anyone is worried about third or away kits, you can change those and use different ideas. If this primary was a third, it would still be ugly but no one would bat an eye. As a primary its terrible.
Does Adidas or MLS publish sales? I'm guessing not. Would be very interesting to see how well (lol) the new jerseys are moving. My (Spidey, lol) sense is that a lot of Fire supporters are not and will not be buying one.
I've only seen a couple in the stands so far, its been cold though so its not like everyone is rocking short sleeves...
I'm trying to remember if I've seen any while at Toyota Park the first two games. All I remember is one and that was a capo in Section 8. I'm sure there are some but I also haven't noticed anyone wearing it passing by my tailgate in the east lot. None. And for the record I'm usually there three hours before kickoff.
I got to the Union game right before kickoff and saw someone at the Sector tailgate in the STH with one on. The capo was wearing one that Duka threw him after the opener, that still wouldn't make me want to wear one.
At the last game by my observation, there were more people wearing blue striped jerseys than white striped jerseys. The majority of blue striped jerseys were the 2012 version but there were a handful of new ones. However, both were outnumbered by non-jersey themed Fire gear.
I think that stuff comes out periodically in Forbes. If memory serves me right it's been all Seattle and LA for a few years. Going even further back, the Fire had the best selling Nike jerseys in MLS circa 2000. Sorry no link, just my old memory.
