I have no basis for predicting but am going to say we can bring in 10k for Bolton (game against Rochester the day before will hurt attendance a little and the fact it's a Sunday evening instead of Saturday).

And 20k for Newcastle - an additional 5k people will come because it's a Saturday and 5k people because they think there's going to be free beer all night.

My team,FC Tampa Bay, played and beat;) Bolton last night, and we drew around 4K. I'll be attending the Newcastle game with my wife. I hope you guy's draw over 10k for that game.

We're already selling out premium sections for Bolton, so I think 9-10k is within reason for that one.

What I find interesting is that they are selling tickets for Newcastle in the 200s section. They haven't done that yet for Bolton. I'm beginning to think 15-20k is within reason for that one.

From the beginning I was getting the feeling that the FO was catering more towards the Newcastle match (with the opening up of the 200s). I still think we should be able to pull in about 9-10K for Bolton. Newcastle has more "name appeal" to non soccer following people (in my opinion) so that one should pull more.

6,300 for Bolton - we played well and respectable against a Premier side going at 80-90%.

I'll downgrade and guess 12k for Newcastle,,,

Hey guys, is there a pub near the stadium that everyone goes to before the games? Trying to find a place walking distance to the stadium to drink a few pints.

Dave, there is not a pub right near the Citrus Bowl that I'm aware of,unless you looking to score some crack cocaine.;) About a mile east of the stadium right next to the Magic's basketball arena is Church Street Station, there are bars and restaurants there.

It's a long walk from Church Street Station to the Citrus Bowl (and through not one of Orlando's best areas). Everyone is welcome to hang in Parking Lot "L" (Southest corner of the property) with The Ruckus. Ex-Pats, Toons Army, and even (I can't believe I'm writing this) Ralph's Mob members. Good food and beer on ice.

Don't blame them for wanting Newcastle over Bolton.

The attendance for the Bolton game was disappointing. However, it might be due to the 75 minute delay from Sat. night's Rhinos game - and the turnaround for Sunday's exhibition.

I think there might be a few more fans for the Newcastle game. OC needs to plan a little better in doing these games so close together.

    Free beer ? mmmm ...

    cheers

I also think that the Women's World Cup final going into extra time kept some fans away as well.

I don't think there's anything the team could do with planning... they have the league schedule and then they have to fit a Bolton/Newcastle game in where Bolton/Newcastle say it fits. I was just happy to see those guys out there - some of those guys were monsters , especially in the air.

Also, as I was driving back to my office yesterday, I drove by the stadium and swore I saw guys installing grass... and sure enough - confirmed it on the website... a grass field for tomorrow! Bet the players are happy...

Wow, that's a surprise. Isn't the CB worried about another Mud Bowl come January?

    Still great news.

And they're ripping it up. Personally, I thought the idea was asinine (especially installing it just two days before), and had no idea it was happening until I saw a tweet from the team dispelling rumors that I hadn't even heard that the match was being cancelled because the grass was unsafe.

So did they actually put it down and then rip it up, or did they never put the grass down? On top of the turf? Oy vey!!!

They put it down Thursday, ripped it up Friday. When we got there tonight, you would've never known.

BTW, the answer to the big question: 10,889. And that number is pretty damn legit, with fans easily spilling into the 200s.

    Nice turnout.

Gosh, I hope MLS is a possibility in 2-3 years time.

The atmosphere was pretty good for 11k... Wouldn't be horrible for 2-3 years for an MLS team if they could draw 15-20k a game - that would fill the lower bowl and a lot of the 2nd tier...

BTW, we played some pretty good flowing soccer last night. Outplayed Newcastle and it wasn't just because they were playing 80-90%...

But, what happened to #3 - stewart? Injured? I haven't seen him for about a month now...

dude people where their to see Newcastle not Orlando so what does that have to do with MLS.

If ManU came to Tampa at RJS we would probably have around 20k does that mean fans would come out in numbers for MLS?

About 6,000 (average attendance) were there to see Orlando who, as it happens, were playing an EPL team. I would say the other 5,000 were there to see Newcastle United play.

How many people would you have had if FCTB played NUFC? How many would have been there just to see Newcastle? Would you have gone only because Newcastle was playing?

Are one of you guys finally going to answer (on this or any other thread) why, on average, City draws almost twice as many people as the Rowdies?

Nothing personal...just asking. Oh...same question for you Striker supporters. Pretending Orlando City has not had a successful go at it is fine. Reality is overrated.

    *Were there

People were there IN Orlando, meaning there is the potential to draw out around 11K or more if the soccer product is good enough.

Orlando is already doing well in terms of attendance, but it could be even higher and thus attracting MLS even more.
