Don't get me wrong, I think they could be and should be unveiling and selling them earlier. But as usual with this bunch its another big "oh well".
TBR is always late to announce uniforms. I see this as no different now that we have the rowdies name. Doesn't matter either way though, I'll be getting mine as soon as it is off the presses. I can only hope that it looks solid.
An email was sent out today inviting all Season Ticket Holders to a Jersey Unveiling on March 30th at JONNY RENO'S at the Pier in St. Pete. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 7pm - 8pm: Jersey unveiling, introduction of players, remarks from head coach Ricky Hill. 8pm - 9pm: Meet & Greet with the Rowdies players. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So, there you go! We'll get to see our new kits that evening.
There were reasons for it being late last year (C&D) and this year (they got "Rowdies" back late). Hopefully if they do new kits next year, too, they will arrive earlier. It was nice getting our kits early on and being able to wear them to our first friendly, and it would've been cool to see you guys in Rowdies gear at the Pro Soccer Classic.
Stupid to wait that long to unveil the uniforms. I still think the Rowdies should operate a kiosk at several bay area malls that sells merch and tickets. Have players make appearances, etc. They need to do something innovative. As for the shirts, just two hopes: 1) no blue 2) Sponsor on the back under the number instead of on the front.
IMO, it's not the end of the world to have the Kit unveiling and the Marketing Blitz happen so close to the start of the season. Either by accident or design, it should create fresh buzz around the Bay Area if it's effective enough. I'd like to believe that if we'd seen all our Marketing go in right after we got the Rowdies name back in December (considering people's attention span), all the buzz would've died down by now. Hopefully I'm right.
Ya, this is a good point. All of us on here view this issue from the perspective of devoted fans who have followed every twist and turn in the naming rights saga, and already have the home opener marked on our calenders. However, the casual fan likely already forgot about the news surrounding the Rowdies name from a few months back, and will need a fresh round of buzz to remind them about the home opener. If April rolls around and there is still no buzz, then we should panic.
There is no blue in the new kits, promise. None. Nowhere to be found. And I agree regarding sponsor location. Although I suspect we'll see basically the same as we did last year, small sponsor logos on the sleeve, etc. There isn't one major sponsor for the shirts yet. Why not, I dunno. But whatevs.
I noticed in a photo from tonight's game that the numbers on the practice jerseys look like typical block numbers, NOT the old school Rowdies font. Any word what the numbers will look like on the game shirts? If they do use the block numbers, at least they have the Rowdies word mark superimposed on the base. Nice touch.
If they went through the trouble of putting the Rowdies logo in the block numbers, then there's a good chance those will be the numbers. Not certain, but still. I suspect you might find out today as part of the marketing campaign they're launching.
Honestly not sure what they decided on for the numbers. I know what they wanted to do, but we'll just have to wait and see if the preseason kits match whats on the official game kits.
From what I read, Mainsail Suites and United World Soccer will return as Shirt Sponsors for our Home & Away kits, while Town & Country Hospital and Westchase Orthopedic & Rehabilitation will be sponsors on the pregame/preseason kits. http://www.rowdiessoccer.com/index.php?id=52&newsid=1820
Yeah but those were smallish logos, I don't think they are going to be putting a large sponsor logo on the shirts this year. But maybe we'll be surprised.
At the exact precise moment that the HUGE marketing campaign is launched and not a moment sooner. Synchronize your watches fans.
