Posts like this make me miss the option to negative rep people.

Of course. Chastain is grating but Foudy was/is good IMHO. Horses for courses.
My point was that none of the folks NBC had were even up to *that* level.

awww I'm sorry you find other's opinions so difficult to deal with.
Have you got something genuine to add? Did you even watch the match?

We are absolutely going to have to agree to disagree on that. I've found Foudy to be nothing but awful. Arlo White is very good at what he does and it's not me being Eurocentric. The man has put in the work over here to become knowledgeable on the American game.

Tommy Smythe and JP Dellacamera did the ESPN Radio broadcast of the Euro 2012 Final.

    Ahh, Good Times.

    Thx,

    Jay!

If you say so. Arlo White is quality. Foudy is far too AMURRRRICA for my tastes and oddly does not add much in terms of game analysis. She has the name though, I will give you that one.

My wife said so before the game when he was interviewing Reis. I said he's probably announcing if you want to listen for a whole 90. She declined.

He's not a bad announcer. Knows the game, the league, the players and the strategy. Just needs some autotune or something.

    Thx,

    Jay!

Put me in the camp of being annoyed by Arlo White. I know he has a lot of fans, but I just don't see it...how many times is he going to say "Alex Morgan ...nicknamed 'Baby Horse' by her teammates" again. He also talks to much during the game. That USWNT Canada game was so exciting and he just couldn't stop talking.

Most likely one and done for White on NBC. He is very weak, boring and better suited for a regional/local soccer club. The national scale is too much for him.

I just wished he didn't try to cater to the "never watched a soccer match before and don't know any of the rules or players" crowd he must feel make up 99% of the audience.

I'm going to guess that it's being sent down from on high to treat viewers as ignorant. It goes with the rest of the coverage that NBC has provided for sports especially at the Olympics.

It wouldn't surprise me. I would imagine that the Olympics get a lot of casual viewers who tune in out of the whole patriotic thing. I'd imagine that a lot of people don't really care about gymnastics, BMX, water polo, or whatever else is seen on TV during the Olympics. Soccer is most likely the same way.

It wouldn't surprise me if there was a memo sent down, telling the broadcasters to "dummy things down and act like you're explaining to noobs, because you most likely are."

Balboa was a "diamond in the rough" during the Olympics. I have never seen someone wrongly analyze games so consistently as he did.

There's a lot of soccer on today--FIFA summer friendly date!!:D

I was expectantly waiting for 2:30 to start the soccer day watching Germany-Argentina. After 25 minutes of the ESPN2 HD feed i had to change it to the Telefutura HD feed of the same game. The guy they put on ESPN2 is just so boring I was falling asleep. Instantly as soon as I put it on Telefutura Diego Balado and Jorge Perez Navarro were filling the airwaves with insightful analysis and beautiful play by play. All of a sudden the game had emotion--which was completely missing from the ESPN2 broadcast.

Luckily I'm bilingual so I can understand the spanish commentary but I feel bad for all those who are forced to listen to the british feed on ESPN2. This is not a knock on British commentators--there are some that are quite good, but the guy doing the Argentina-Germany game is simply not inspired today.

Watching yesterday's BeIN telecast of Sevilla-Getafe. This Julian Andrews they have as the #2 PBP guy behind Phil Schoen is god-awful (almost making me for long for the terrible Juan Arango of GOL-TV).

Every ball played in to the box is "IN THE MIX!" and he pronounced Sevilla with an exaggerated Spanish accent (Sa-VEEEEEEYA) even though he doesn't have one. And of course the match is being played at the "Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium" (a bilingual redundancy). The worst part is that I'm only 35 minutes in right now.

    Dial it down, dude.

Yeah but between Dunseth, Christopher Sullivan, Efan Ekoku on EPL games and a few of the local commentators on MLS Direct Kick... my mute button is worn out.

    Slightly OT:

Watching GOL over the weekend and they flashed a promo up for their B'liga coverage showing a BVB home game goal and THEIR graphic stated the game was being played in Signal IdunaL Park.

    Really ??
