Completely! They were funny on the phone and said things like, "well I don't know if it is not public knowledge yet..."
That's what I was thinking, since they did the same thing with Orlando City. It was then confirmed on an article just posted. http://news.sportslogos.net/2014/04/11/atlanta-mls-team-and-colours-confirmed-for-2017/
I like the color scheme. Even though I don't like a lot of red, the Hawks colors are cool and would be great for your team.
MLS, Arthur Blank set for 'major announcement' in Atlanta http://www.sportingnews.com/soccer/...ta-expansion-don-garber-arthur-blank-mls-news
I imagine Don will still be there for the announcement. If not, maybe MLS Deputy Commissioner,Mark Abbott will fill in for him.
I hope Garber can show up! For all the work he has done for this league he has earned the press conference. I am looking forward to the day he shows up in the Twin Cities for our news conference. Don you better be there for the Twin Cities press conference!
Yea, I saw his name on the announcement; anybody know who the "World Cup icon and MLS legend" is going to be?
Arthur Blank, Major League Soccer set to make major announcement in Atlanta on Wednesday http://www.mlssoccer.com/news/artic...r-set-make-major-announcement-atlanta-wednesd
Why the Atlanta MLS franchise matters http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/the91stminute/2014/04/why-the-atlanta-mls-franchise-matters/
That's pretty fair. Football is king, and it took Arthur Blank making the Falcons exciting and affordable to fill the stadium up. The best thing he did was to drop ticket prices when the team stunk and couldn't fill the building. Now that it's been pretty good, the prices are up but everybody cares about it. Every other pro sports team has had decent support when good, lesser when not. The Braves really draw well considering the crap transportation and the fact that weekday games require rush hour battles. Atlanta has a massive mix of people. You can see this at Silverbacks games. There are Koreans, Mexicans, Chinese, etc. all along Buford Highway and nearby places. So once the Silverbacks started to really market the team, people came out, especially with how reasonable prices are. Can the city support MLS? Absolutely. Will it? Probably. The team will need exciting, quality players and for the ownership to not go all Thrashers on the team. I don't know who will be available in a couple of years, but a push for a recognizable DP needs to be made. Blank kind of did that with Vick the first year he owned the Falcons. He could use someone in the mold of Clint Dempsey for an immediate impact. (I know, every team could use a Clint Dempsey)
I hope he doesn't miss it. The way it sounded in that announcement, it didn't sound like it was that big a deal.
Nearly fell off my chair when I read that on the poster. Icon? Legend? Kind of playing fast and loose with those words, no?
No. Alexi said on his Q&A on the flight to ATL that we won't know the name tomorrow. As far as colors, I wouldn't bet against Black/Red/Yellow/Orange but those will be finalized with the name and badge. It safe to say we won't know these for sure until 2016.
are you guys really happy about this? how is this not NE Revs 2.0? "He has long professed an interest in bringing MLS to Atlanta, and the Falcons are expected to open a new, 65,000-seat stadium in 2017, one that could use "downsizing technology" to house an MLS team." so, basically, they're going to put a tarp over the upper deck seats? no, check that, http://newstadium.atlantafalcons.com/overview/ long, rectangular 'roof' like structures to you can't see the upper deck. Atl is Florida lite. Passionate sports fans aren't that common. They are going to have to compete with UGA, all the pros and the Silverbacks as well. This is college football country. and by all accounts it will be turf as well.
