Write up from the club website. Wooten absolutely dominated the game. He scored in the first couple minutes, hit the woodwork several times, barely missed a free kick from just outside the box, and had a no call take down in the box that should have resulted in a pk.
What crap! Was the only striker who provided substance last year (albeit the back end) and now he's back in the reserves?....
It was for another team, but Idrissou scored 14 2. Bundesliga goals last season. Edit: and he has two more today.
Idrissou is the player who Wooten is competing against and he has a lot more experience. Not only did he put in 2 goals today, but he just abused the Union central defenders with his body. Wooten has room for growth and will be on the bench in the future.
For a second division team Kaiserslautern are pretty loaded in the striker department. Though I think they might still be looking to offload players (Shechter?).
They are looking to offload Shechter. Some of those players listed as strikers actually play on the wing.
But scored again for the 2nd team in a 1-1 draw with Worms. If he keeps scoring perhaps he will get another shot with the 1st team.
There was an article this week about the reserve team and the coach said he is not comfortable with his strikers and asked Foda for help (i.e. Wooten and a couple other players) until he can get them up to speed.
Depends on the performances of their first choice strikers. Idrissou and Bunjaku are the new star players of the team, Bunjaku was even made captain as a new player. Wooten seems to be striker #4 now; and the club has assigned key roles to #1 and #2. Wooten won't get a chance as long as they perform up to the expectations.
Wooten started, went 90, and scored the game winning goal for the reserve team yesterday. The first team has a cup game tomorrow at Hansa Rostock.

Interesting....... Merely jumping ahead of myself but does he wait for his number to be called with FCK or does he take the plunge, move down a division, and go to VfL Osnabrück? There's risk and reward with both. Best case scenario would be a loan. Regardless Wooten needs first team football and he's earned it. Languishing in the 4th division for a few months with FCK won't do him any favors.
Micanski was loaned to FSV Frankfurt, right? Or was it Braunschweig? What I saw briefly but clearly was that Micanski was above his head at FCK and the Bundesliga. Players coming from the Polish league have generally faired well in the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. I thought he'd have a nice transition but I was wrong. I never saw Micanski during his loan but I read that it was a huge success. Maybe Wooten can have the same luck. I'm just eager to see him playing regularly and contributing.
I rate Wooten and would really like to see him join the VFL. However, our coach is playing some kind of 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 formation and therefore only fields one "real" striker. Our number one striker is currrently Simon Zoller, who joined the club this summer and played well right from the start, scoring 3 goals in 4 matches. So that would be some competition for Wooten. Apart from Zoller, though, we only have one other true striker, a guy called Adriano Grimaldi. So far his performances have been far less impressive than his family name. I would certainly expect Wooten to surpass him right away and be the first striker off the bench, if he were to join.
Very successful loan and he has done very well coming off the bench so far, even though he broke his hand. He even scored a national team goal last week. He was over his head when he came over from Poland, but his time at FSV Frankfurt helped him find his form. Wooten could benefit from a loan as well, even though the reserve coach feels he needs him for a while.
No one said it was fair to Wooten. I posted an article earlier in the thread where the reserve team coach talked about how he needed help since his new players were not ready and Foda agreed to send him some of the 1st team players that were reservists last season.
Wooten loaned to Sandhausen, also in 2. Bundesliga. From the article: 1. With the summer additions of Idrissou and Bunjaku and the retun of Micanski from his loan, Wooten is number 4 ahead of new signing Nsor. 2. The club sees a future for him, but Kuntz wants him to get first team minutes and train at a high level.
