I'm a Cajispster. Half Cajun - Half Hipster. I like to eat Crawfish, but I was doing it before it was cool.
First he said he didn't like cars and then said he was from suburbia and had been driving nascars in his granddaddy's backyard! I suspect he drives a Prius but he has it secretly hidden. What do you think?
I just happen to like the branding: colors, name, etc. And there are only so many good names and color combos a person or group can think up. Obviously some team in the world is going to copy another. Glasgow Celtic ---> Bloemfontein Celtic; Galatasaray has quarters--->Guess what? Chattanooga FC did last year. Chelsea has blue--->so do the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Oh well. I think the colors and name are great. So sue me. I welcome the soon-to-be Cosmos-Red Bulls derby. I don't really care for Pele' being given an honorary title. Have him appear at halftime of a big match, or something to that effect. But I want to concentrate on who the real staff-members are; the current identity of the club. To me, it's a new club with similar identity.
it would be a shame to have the name be just "Cosmos"...hate that. New York needs to be in there. New York Cosmos is perfect.
Since it is likely that NY2 would be owned by the Wilpons, which of coarse own the Mets. I thought would then make sense for them to bring back the Metro Stars name and logos, which the league owns. This logo shows the old and new Metro Stars logos melted together.
I think in reference to the Mets ownership, it's important to note that "Cosmopolitans" as a name was intended as one-upmanship of the (then) new Metropolitans.
The Machiavellian part of me says " I like it".. That was the reason behind my suggestions for the original talk of NYC being the NY Metropolitan FC ( aka Metros) or NY Empire . But my practical side says not a good idea at all.
Here's a idea for the New York Empire logo. It uses Lady Liberty and city scape with a soccerball burst, along with Mets colors. URL=http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/801/newyorkempirelogo.png/][/URL]
It's very nice. I just don't grasp calling it Empire and then using Lady Liberty as the focal point. I realize "Empire" relates to all of New York and not just the Empire State Building. But, Liberty seems odd there.
