    Announcing the creation of the All Rocks Super League competition.

    Comprising 32 Teams from Small Rocks, Very Small Rocks, Sand and Dust.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    I was up until 2am putting the final touches to this new, season long competition; then read (in the 2011/2012 All Rocks Pre-Organizing Thread) that we might not have 32 teams next season.
    :(
    Reading today's posts I feel confident that we can fill Dust League for next season; especially with some active recruitment per Dear_Claudio's suggestion.
    So here goes......
    For the first half of the season, we will have a variety of grouping contests between the drafted teams, with an alternating scale of points available - (8, 6, 4, 2) and (4, 3, 2, 1) for the highest scorers.
    Eliminations will start after Gameweek 19 (around Christmas).
    By Gameweek 35 we should be down to the last 16; when the head-to-head knockout begins.
    =========
    Tiebreakers
    =========
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Gameweek Contests (8, 6, 4, 2)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If two teams in a grouping have the same high score both teams score 7 points; if three teams, they score 6 points each; if four (or more) then each team is credited with 5 points.
    If one team gets the highest score and the next two are level, the first team scores 8 points and the next two are rewarded 5 points each. If there's a three-way tie for second, each team scores 4 points.
    If two or more teams are equal third, each team gets 3 points. Ties for fourth will be given 1 point.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Gameweek Contests (4, 3, 2, 1)
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Tiebreaks are sorted by draft league: Small Rocks, Very Small Rocks, Sand, Dust; giving advantage to the higher league.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    I'm glad at least one person thinks it looks interesting and is looking forward to trying out this new format.

    May we meet in the final.

    All I can say is WOW!. I won't even try to figure out any strategy for the All Rocks Super League, but I'm looking forward to figuring it out as we play.

    I'm looking forward to the draft - with you and Clan joining me in Very Small Rocks this year.

    As for an All Rocks Super League strategy, I'm hoping for a strong start and consistently fighting for high scores in my groupings.

    I'm thinking it's going to be important to do well in the eight team grouping gameweeks.

    As league position will play a major role in the competition, looking for the eight points in the two league leapfrog opportunities - Gameweeks 6 and 14 - could keep a team in contention when it comes to the first elimination after Gameweek 19.

    Theoretically a team could be 30th in December and still make it to the 16 team cut for the knockout tournament, while an early runaway leader could be pegged back - if they fail to get top five scores between Christmas and Easter.

    :eek:

    Make that two Long Island Ice Teas, and a place in the semi-finals for the four of us.

    :D

    All Rocks Super League Companion - It's a Knockout

    The All Rocks Super League will also have a companion cup competition - It's a Knockout - where early losers get a chance to win again.

    While FA Cup tradition is all about the luck of the draw, the All Rocks Super League companion is all about the luck of the draft position and corresponding Premier League gameweek match-ups.

    As this is not the main event, It's a Knockout is as go slow as the draft itself.

    It's also easier on the organiser trying to do the updates from a dodgy WiFi connection; sometime between the late evening bottle of red and the early morning Cappuccino.

    :D

    How to Join.

    If you are reading this, are not in the All Rocks Leagues and would like to be a part of this season-long tournament, around drafted teams using the official Premier League fantasy site, then there's still time to join us.

    Just add your details to the 2011/2012 All Rocks Pre-Organizing Thread:

    I've finally put together all the gameweek pages.

    All we need now is to input the draft orders.

    If anyone is getting bored waiting for the official Premier League game to get going, there's a number of other fantasy games to dabble in.

    http://1800-worldcup.com/fantasy/

    The Sun's Dream Team fantasy football game is now free to enter.

    If anyone is playing Metro Fantasy Football, our League Number is 10620.

    Premier League Rivals is also back on Classic Fantasy League - (League Pin: 13570).

    I didn't win last year but I did finish above lobo; despite my end of season lack of activity. This year, I'm in it to win it.

    I noted earlier in this discussion that someone was saying they develop "strategy" to win a cup - or something to that effect. Does this mean you draft your team and then select players to win the cup competitions not one of the All Rocks 8-team leagues? For me, it's all about the league and getting promoted.

    Time to Find The Summer

    Well, I was hoping to at least see all the teams registered in their respective leagues before I left, but so far only Very Small Rocks has a full compliment of eight managers ready to go.

    It looks like we're going to be very competitive in there so I'm sure the draft will be full of last-minute plan changes due to snipings from other astute managers.

    :D

    The Scottish Premier League kicked off this weekend and we still don't really know much about the English pre-season trials and tribulations. I already have my team penciled in but most of them will probably be back in the pool when the Gameweek 1 wildcard is played.

    Seven managers are registered in Sand, six in Small Rocks and only two (so far) in Dust.

    I know it will all come good by August but I would have liked to present all the Gameweek groupings before I hit the road for the summer.

    I'm off early in the morning (which is just as well as it has been so cold and damp here) and won't be home again until the week after the season starts (hopefully with something of a tan).

    This might be the biggest challenge yet for my drafting strategy but no matter what, everything falls apart when some of our great hopes for the season get injured in the opening games.

    :rolleyes:

    Ya, VSR will be a challenging draft.....for the first time I am going with a preferred formation and selecting players for that.

    It's a Joke

    How many people would be making their transfers if they didn't get a free wildcard?

    :eek:

    Pathetic.

    Bring back CYKI!

    What happened to Paul?

    Where's the other freelance game developers?

    Oh, the Premier League wants to charge real fans for using the (except for lawspeaky nonsense) public domain (for fair use) fixtures.

    Now that is sad.

    Who

    I don't know what all the fuss is about Sergio Aguero's two goal debut; I was at the Tottenham game when Colin Lee scored four on his debut against Bristol Rovers, to help Spurs get promotion straight back to Division One - before it was branded the Premier League.

    And he only cost £60,000.

    Those were the days!

    Re: Who

    not to mention his goals were v. Swansea. He'll get a good haul and could work wonders with Tevez though. Perfect depth as they need it now in the CL though...with Djzeko and Balotelli as backup.
