Hi All, It's 3rd round proper in the FA Cup ..... so for a bit of fun I have decided to use our league positions at the close of round 15 to decide everybodys sweep tie/team. Whoever wins your allocated tie then becomes you team for the whole of the FA Cup. Come the month of May, via the process of elimination, we should have 2 people left contesting the final. For interest here are the ties :- 1 Barnsley v Hartlepool United or Coventry City 2 Yeovil Town v Leyton Orient 3 Liverpool v Oldham Athletic or Mansfield Town 4 Nottingham Forest v West Ham United 5 Bristol City v Watford 6 Southend United v Millwall 7 Middlesbrough v Hull City 8 West Bromwich Albion v Crystal Palace 9 Kidderminster Harriers v Peterborough United 10 Doncaster Rovers v Stevenage 11 Stoke City v Leicester City 12 Southampton v Burnley 13 Newcastle United v Cardiff City 14 Rochdale v Leeds United 15 Wigan Athletic v Milton Keynes Dons 16 Charlton Athletic v Wrexham or Oxford United 17 Manchester United v Swansea City 18 Port Vale v Plymouth Argyle 19 Norwich City v Fulham 20 Aston Villa v Sheffield United 21 Macclesfield Town v Sheffield Wednesday 22 Sunderland v Carlisle United 23 Bolton Wanderers v Blackpool 24 Blackburn Rovers v Manchester City 25 Everton v Queens Park Rangers 26 Brighton & Hove Albion v Reading 27 Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur 28 Birmingham City v Bristol Rovers or Crawley Town 29 Grimsby Town v Huddersfield Town 30 Ipswich Town v Preston North End 31 Derby County v Chelsea 32 AFC Bournemouth v Fleetwood or Burton Albion
There are 64 teams = 32 ties , so was going to do it on the ties. Can be a bit more interesting if there are some upsets , ie. Swansea winning at Old trafford then again, on current form Swansea losing there would be the bigger shock !! The only other way is to use a random number generator to do the selecting.
Or the other way is to use the respective positions in our "Sweet FA cup" league reflect in the FA Cup .... Hmm I think I will go with that one
Either way On The Road gets the short straw for doing well..... even beating WhataBunchofMuppets! 1 Barnsley v Hartlepool United or Coventry City 2 Yeovil Town v Leyton Orient How about letting interested managers pick their 'lucky number', according to our league position.... top starts first. Half the teams probably won't even get picked.
I could go along with just interested managers taking their pick but what happens when all premier league sides have gone ... nobody will be interested to pick. If it is done on 4th round of 32 teams some of the lesser teams will be gone. Also I don't need to see who is interested.. this is just for fun & like any cup there is no skill involved as the draw makes the big difference. I will use a random number generator to allocate everybody a team when there is 32 left (4th round) that way we will go straight into 16 head to head ties.
It's a cool idea either way you go. I kind of like the way you set it up first though. Not that my West Brom v Crystal Palace pair seems very promising...
Baggies v Palace is better than mine at the moment, i would get Kidderminster v Peterborough. So no Chance of a fix if I stayed in 9th .. lol
Damn. Didn't catch my league position in round 15 but I know I've been truly awful this season. Last time I checked I was, oh I dunno, somewhere around 27th place maybe...
No panic teams will be allocatted when the round is played, i've got totry n get away from Kidderminster/Peterborough !!!
Ok it's full stream ahead, check the picture below , your league position will now determine your teams in the FA Cup sweep. After this weekends ties 32 teams will be left, the teams will be allocated as drawn. IE. On the Road gets the first drawn team & will play FC Touchline Ban who gets the 2nd out of the hat. Hence the last tie will be between Biggerboat & HazMat+9 I Will post a complete draw here next week. Good Luck
Bloody hell. Kidderminster Harriers or Peterborough Utd?!!?!? I don't even want to know who won that tie!
