What can I say? Swedes rule!! Too bad I won't be able to see the Germany:Sweden match tomorrow. Sweden & Brazil are my favorite teams next to Germany (WE ROCK!).

And she is half Brasilian too, if I read my lessons correctly. If it were up to me (and all right-minded women's soccer enthusiasts), for this outrageous heritage, she ought to be first up against the wall when the Revolution comes.

Unfortunately, I understand she's very popular in Sweden. Do-gooder type and all that. So I guess she gets a pass.

    Must. Beat. Germany.

Luckily, that's in bold under in the Caveats-sectionof the 'Congratulations, you are a monarch' brochure, so that's something she has been prepared for. :)

We all love her. She has the most endearing German accent. 'Ja, lille CarlPhiülüip [yes, a mix between the y- and the i-sound], han er mücket ducktig' and she's very good at running charities and keeping the populace in line.

We still must beat Germany. This is very bad. We cannot come back with three points only. Against Finland of all countries.

Well, they're off. Bend all your will and energy towards the Algarve.

    Must beat Germany...

Germany rocks! Somebody explain why the hell should we lose the opening to Denmark. This could be our Algarve year

As usual, bad refereeing and lucky goals. Well well.

Which game do you mean? Germany-Sweden or Germany-Denmark?

I don't think Neid starts beating her players until the Algarve. I mean, hell, look at last year. Norway beat Germany in the opening round, then go the hell kicked out of them in the WWC.

Neid beats her players? Geez. That's a tough coach. But she should have started beating them earlier last year, obviously.

Bet you're missing Nordby something fierce, just about now...

US is in final. I guess they will win this year too. Germany and US share every international tournament between them without facing each other. I am happy on behalf of Germany but not on behalf of Women football.

After China 2002 Algarve cup, not a single tournament has been won by any other nation. After Norway 1995, no UEFA or FIFA international tournament has been won by anyother nation but Germany and US.

I hope Brazil plays in next Algarve cups, and big names such as Norway and Sweden don't allow such heavy defeats (especially Norway, what the hell is 4-0 against this ordinary US?). In long term it won't be good for Women football, if the situation doesn't change. An ideal women football world is where, Germany / Norway/ Sweden/ US /Brazil /China and North Korea , equally share chances of winning a tournament.

That was all kinds of horrible.

But I couldn't help but laugh at the end. I mean, good lord, Hjelmseth is supposed to be one of Norway's top keepers, and was one of three GKs Bjarne was trying out to see who would take Nordby's place.

I hate to say it, but I think that's it for Ingrid. We'll see how little Skarbo plays on Wednesday, but right now, it's looking like Chrstine Colombo Nielsen will get it.

And yes, I am missing Nordby something awful. :( On the flip side, maybe not having her in goal will make the defense step it up some this year.

********ing christ. Not just one serious error, but TWO? That's totally inexcusable.

Maybe you should all take a page from Queen Sylvia and learn how to speak German. Old Chinese proverb: If you can't beat them, join them!

Maybe Bjarne should start beating his players.

Hmmmm ... I don't know why but I get the feeling it would not be wise to "beat" players like Prinz, Rottenberg, Stegemann, Angerer. I think I'd rather swallow nuclear waste products. Seems safer and the chance of survival seems to be astronomically higher.

4-0 against Norway is becoming the USWNT's version of the USMNT's 2-0 battlecry against Mexico. :D

I saw a clip of the German coach being interviewed after the game and she said she wouldn't have whistled penalty when the penalty was given.

There's one way to overcome bad refereeing and lucky goals by the opposing team. How 'bout scoring goals yourselves?

No, you see, Dennerby prefers that we do not score excessively.

Die Zeit ist Schwartz; ich euch nicht weiss or some damn thing like that. My Goethe is a little weak. Maybe I'll just go watch "Seventh Seal" again and imagine the Swedish team holding hands and dancing off into the sunset as Death plays a merry tune.

So... other than the obvious, such as the moral shortcomings of Team Germany and blindness of referees and so forth, any other word on how the game was?

I actually think that it is good that we lost to Germany.
The Season has not started over here yet, and now we know what to
work with, and besides Sweden can wait until the olympics with
the victory over Germany, much better that way :p
What on eath do you mean Norway and Sweden heavy defeats.
How is 2-0 heavy?. 4-0 is abit more than normal for Norway.
But then again how could Germany lose to Denmark?
