. . . it's coming down to this. We all know it. They are similar in the position they play and their size. I love Tevez, LOVE him, noone works harder. But Kun is an elite player as well; and having Kun ride the pine is sacrilege. But what I am more concern with is all the talk from Tevez that he doesn't know how much longer he play for the national team and he "hurts" more. I think Tevez plays too many games; he is only 26 years old and should not be hurting. Maybe what Batista needs to do is make a statement that he is givin Tevez time off from the National team and that Tevez' position with the NT is secure- and then bring in Kun. Still, who would you rather see line up with Higuain and Messi? Why? (show your work)
the following combo's could work for various reasons: 1. mess-higuain-di maria (di maria brings pace and great crossing from the side) 2. messi-higuain-milito - milito offers size and can bully his way to get a goal 3. messi-higuain-aguero (2 finese players on both sides of higuain who can do whatever they want with the ball essentially 4. messi-higuain-lavezzi (another good winger option instead of di maria)
I'd rather have an attacking mid like Pastore honestly. However between the two I would have to pick Tevez because he can drop deeper so that Messi and Higuain don't have to. He can also score goals from distance, play some good passes, and he works very hard. Aguero is a great dribbler but I don't think he has figured out how to be a goal scorer yet. Sure against Spain he scored, but other than that I think he lost the ball the two times he touched it and was invisible the rest of the game. Again first I still want to see how Messi and Higuain would do paired up with an attacking mid, we have only seen glimpses of that with Pastore and D'Alessandro didn't even get to play with Messi. And before that when we had Riquelme we didn't have Higuain. I would probably put Aguero in for Higuain if he was having one of those games where he just cannot finish.
granted it was a friendly - albeit against the best country in the world, i would like to see argentina go with this 4-3-3 a few more times. right now their strengths are more up front than having a playmaker like pastore. a possible idea would be to sub in pastore in the next friendly for one of the 3 forwards up front and switch to that 4-3-1-2 formation instead of a 4-3-3 and see how that works out as a possible scenario... right now having 3 forwards up front (given the world class depth up front) is better than having an inexperienced playmaker and 2 forwards in front of him.... but that is a good idea though - hopefully pastore can be included in the future
I'd pick Aguero over Tevez. Aguero is the more talented player, his goalscoring record the NT is better even though he virtually always comes on as a sub and he can also create for others. Completely agree that Pastore has to be in the team as well.
Kun for me. With an extra defensive midfielder we can afford slightly less of a defensive effort from one player upfront. He , like Banega, Aimar ,Pastore also have a telepathic linkup with Messi. That said so does Tevez but I prefer Kun's style of more clever play.
Despite the effort he put in on the pitch, even injured in the second half, I don't care if tevez plays or not. Every time i start coming around on him again, he says something stupid. Lets not forget the red cards he got during qualifying- the read reason we struggled to get in. we would have beaten colombia and paraguay with a full team but his stupidity cost us twice. The only way Tevez can gain a place in my heart again is if he returns to Boca, like he keeps claiming he will... but given his habit of speaking out of his a$$ i doubt that will happen remember, this guy has had a love afair with every set of fans he has ever had before leaving at the sight of more money, although he is always quick to say "one day i'll come back" he even said this about west ham for gods sake he's the hero and captain at man city, but if madrid or inter come in with a big offer that pays him 2 euros more than hes getting now, he'll leave again
you're right. if tevez was 30 and saying this, i might believe it, but he probably just wants to stir the pot... depending on how things go at the copa america, we'll know for sure where tevez stands at the club level and national team. if man city struggles this year, he probably will want out b/c the scrutiny will just be too much for anyone to handle...
I think you're a bit harsh. Tevez loves to play football. And he's adored by fans because of his commitment. It was clear that he wanted to play for United from the begining, West Ham was just a warm up. Even though he was so much revered by the fans there that even now he doesn't celebrate when he scores against them. I also think that hadn't "Baconface" Ferguson injustly benched him in favour of Berbaflop, he would still be at United, even though City would be paying more.
