Whedon's new baby so of course I am in. Though am I being overly critical by saying that this grouping is slightly bland? That group shot doesn't really suggest the same combination of awesomeness and quirkiness like the eclectic bunch on board of "Serenity" or even (to a less extent) the Dolls and personnel at the Dollhouse. I can't be the only one who sees a charm discrepancy here? Though obviously my sentiments towards the Firefly image are influenced by the familiarity with the characters.
Not at all, I loved Firefly. I just don't want S.H.I.E.L.D. to be like it though. Plus Joss did the pilot and is a producer, his influence won't be anywhere near what it was in his shows.
If by bland you mean really, really, really caucasian then you're spot on! Even Ming Na looks almost white in this picture.
Looks interesting even though it has white people in it I'll be tuning in. The trailer felt a little too much like X-Men. "There are people put there like us." But I don't thnik that's the direction they're going.
I thought Amy Aker and a few of his other regulars were going to be in this. I saw a cast listing a few months back that was made up of all of his regulars actually.
Whedon co-wrote directed the pilot, and has an executive producer credit to his name. His involvement will be minimal going forward.
Perhaps we will get the Whedonverse alumns more as guest stars than part of the regular cast? With this being on ABC, it should be pretty easy for them to have Nathan Fillion have a guest stint.
Never happen, but I'd love a Castle/Agents of SHIELD crossover. But I'll take Nathan and Adam have guest shots.
I believe his brother and sister-in-law are the showrunners on this, so he will very likely have a decent involvement in the shows overall direction and tone, though perhaps not on a day to day basis.
I love Sky and Coulson. I love the humor. I live seeing J. August Richards and Ron Glass. I hate the scientist pair. I hate them so much it almost counters everything good. Almost. The C-17ish aircraft is an amazing set. You don't spend that money unless you are sure this show is going to succeed.
Watched it last night. Agree about the two scientists. He was stereotypical borderline crazy genious but did not do it well. She is very easy on the eyes so I could stand her character more. I'll give it a couple more tries and see how it goes from there. for me it was so so
I came into this with some pretty lofty expectations, and walked away from it feeling pretty meh. The humor was a nice tough, especially from Coulson, like the dark corner/light bulb comment. Agreed with the scientist duo, although some of their tech (like the "dwarves") was pretty slick. If I were an inch taller I might've gotten it, but can someone explain to me wtf happened with Mike Peterson getting shot?
The science twins solved the puzzle of how to stop him from exploding; they invented some serum or something and the handsome agent shot it into him with that blue light-up sci-fi rifle. That was a different gun than the sniper's rifle he had been setting up, and the science dude was right next to him after he shot the rogue dude.
The first episode was entertaining enough, but the show may not be as good in episodes that aren't written by Joss Whedon. Then again, Firefly took some time to establish all of the characters, so I need to give these guys a chance.
