    - Rankings: the Committee decided to apply the rankings of AFC U-19 Championship 2010 to seed the teams for U-22 Championship.

Three teams withdrew from Pakistan's group as a result they finished 3rd compared to India's 4th.

So let me guess this straight...

India plays in a group which had Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Afghanistan in it and only finish behind Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Oman while Pakistan played Iran and Uzbekistan and lost both matches 4-0 and 5-0 and are still ahead of India... ya makes sense -_-

I think AFC have actually just used the 2012 AFC-U19 rankings rather than the 2010 like they said in their press release.

The worse affected teams will be Kuwait and Qatar who qualified from these competitions and still sit lowly down. Make for interesting qualification.

All I know is that the All India Football Federation must choose wisely for who is going the coach the Indian U22 Team for qualifiers because they will be tough.

Top two from each group qualify = 14.
    Best 3rd placed side = 1

And a host = 1. So who is host? Are AFC telling us that a nation that doesn't qualify will be granted host status so that they can get the numbers upto 16?

Will the host be announced before the qualifiers? If it is, then maybe the host will just not play in their group.

If that was to happen, then I'm guessing for example that Group E teams would be praying that either Japan or Australia were hosts just to make finishing in top two that little bit easier.

To me, it's almost like AFC have decided to give themselves a wild card pick. We've got Iran, Bahrian, Qatar and Kuwait in Group C who all could host, not all can make it.

Singapore, Hong Kong could all host this type of competition. Normally AC tell us they pick a host from the qualifiers, now they will pick a host from a nation that doesn't qualify. Why couldn't they just have two 3rd palced finishers?

There isn't a purpose really. Previous Olympic qualification suited me.

Simple. To be more like Europe. They say that the AFC motto is "The future is Asia" but really there motto is "The future is UEFA type confederations".

By the way. Why havent anyone thought of India as the host. I am sure the AFC want India to host a proper Asian Competition at youth level if they are to host the FIFA U17 World Cup.

We could use Maharashtra and North-East for the event.

    Stadiums:

Cooperage Ground (5,000 capacity but if according to plan should rise to 10,000 for the summer of 2013): Mumbai, Maharashtra

Balewadi Stadium (20,000 capacity): Pune, Maharashtra

Salt Lake Stadium (120,000 capacity): Kolkata, West Bengal

Nehru Stadium, Shillong (30,000 capacity): Shillong, North-East India

This could be a good way to show the Asian Football Confederations intent on getting the smaller nations (in terms of football ability) onto a more international stage.

Oh, I'm pretty sure they could host and i'm sure AFC have an eye on this.

Like you say, smaller nations, there can't be many that can host in Asia, but India could. They have 1 host slot that they have left open. Wild card for India if they don't qualify? Possible?

Ya. The only problems I see are...

    1) Distance between Maharashtra and the North-East

    and

    2) If we can get bucket seats into the stadiums on time. The Salt Lake Stadium may have a 120,000 capacity but has only 10,000 bucket seats. We would need at least 30,000 for this event. Also Cooperage is not confirmed to have 100% bucket seats. They may leave some terracing but the capacity in terms of bucket seats should 100% be 5,000 by 2013. Also the Nehru Stadium in Shillong is 20% bucket seats. Balewadi is the only place that is 100% perfect.

Also training grounds is a problem. And I think the rules are 2 cities and 4 stadiums. Well I said 4 stadiums but all 4 are in a different city. Only 2 stadiums are in the same state. Unless the AFC want to do a Delhi and Kolkata tournament with the Nehru Stadium (Delhi), Ambedkar Stadium, Salt Lake Stadium and one of the East Bengal or Mohun Bagan Grounds I cant realistically see India getting hosting rights.

Also sense it is the first tournament it should probably go to say Japan or Australia. Maybe India could do the 2015 AFC U22 Championship as we should be more developed by then.

possible... have 15 teams. Split them into 4 groups. 4 in 3 of them (12) and 3 in 1 group (15).

It seems weird I will say. If it is Nepal than I will be pissed. Also how come they are dictating the tournament.
