mama always told me if it's too good to be true, it probably is (and the scary thing is some of you have met my mama) I showed her the article and she said "they also told your father that Pan Am was financially viable"
I thought I read that Ronaldinho was having discussions with AEG before he returned to Milan. Laying ground work for Houston? hahahaah
Agreed. AEG is also looking for a "sexy name" who people will want to see and galvanize people to attend games. They want someone that will sell jerseys, up the shirt sponsorship, and sell the naming rights. And I believe it goes w/o saying that it'll be an offensive minded player. Midfield or striker
1. Didier Drogba 2. Lionel Messi 3. Cristiano Ronaldo Either of these three would sell a couple of jerseys. But seriously, Carlos Darwin Quintero. Yes, have some...
The problem is, would that type of player come to Houston? When big name players think about finishing their career in the US, I don't think Houston is at the top of their list.
It could be if their WAGs like shopping and they prefer to keep more of that money they'll be making in their golden years than they would otherwise in the NY/LA markets.
They better make sure they show him the stadium plans/renderings! And I agree, the lifestyle somebody making a lot of money can have here in Houston (+ suburbs) is a great selling point...
It will be interesting to see if there is any Mexican/Central American big enough in this situation. From a marketing perspective those names don't draw like Beckham, Henry, and other aging Europeans/Brazilians/Argies. From my perspective, just win baby.
I believe what MLSNHTOWN is trying to say is that if we have free reign to sign anyone we want, why would we choose a midfielder who can't find time with the USMNT for Christ's sake. We've already got 7 of them. Lol
