I have known for quite some time someone with whom AEG is negotiating the sale of the team. They approached him, and he is still deciding if the investment makes since to him( it's my best friends uncle). Just to give you an idea of what type of investor their looking at; He already is part owner of a sports franchise that has had a lot of recent on-field success after the previous owners did'nt. He lives in town, but his franchise is not. He previously owned lower division franchises, before he moved up to the big boys. Thats all I can say.
You think soccer is a money black hole and therefore Carlos Slim is too smart to get involved? He is heavily involved now in Formula One, a black hole that can suck the entirety of MLS and the Mexican leagues up and still have room for investing in forever stamps. Why is he involved in F1, I would think because of the worldwide cachet and the ability to help a couple young Mexican drivers get a place at the table that they would never have otherwise. CONCACAF region pro teams do not offer one of those, and they do not need him for the other. Lets hope the new owner is more Les Alexander than Drayton McLane.
So is it just AEG looking to sell or are De La Hoya and Richard Schaeffer selling their half as well?
Thanks. Have De La Hoya and Schaeffer gone on record saying they don't want to buy AEG's half? (Sorry for the questions, I just don't feel like looking for the answers even though I know they're likely already somewhere in this thread.)
^^^ someone missed the smiley face. I think you just agreed with me? I'm sure he owns thoroughbreds too, because that's what rich guys do. If anything his name will start being linked with Premiership teams rather than a MLS team or the Dorados de Sinaloa.
As far as I know nothing has been said about it. I doubt AEG would be openly looking to sell if they knew they could just sell it to those two.
rich people with too much money are tough to understand. EPL? You never know, but I doubt it. Tony Fernandes owns an F1 team and just bought QPR, and I doubt either of them are making money. Heck, he bought QPR from Bernie Ecclestone and Flavio Briatore, who had no interest in it. So these people are in Slim's world, and I doubt they would speak positively about it. Tony is also incredibly hands on with both of those, something Slim would not be. Back to the Dynamo, are we 100% that this sale will only include the AEG 50%? Is that a situation someone is willing to put big money out for?
But you know what, why not Carlos Slim. He sure as hell wouldn't blink if whoever he has running his team asked him for $5M for a player. I dont think he knows they make bills in that small amount.
Interesting. I found someone that fits that exact description other than the "lives in town"...unless you consider "within 190 miles" to be "in town" I'd like to add that it is my understanding that although AEG may be LOOKING to sell the team, they don't necessarily WANT to sell the team. The league is pushing for a rule that would not allow ownership of more than one team. So they are more or less trying to leave on their own terms before being forced.
All of Houston looks at their monitors and collectively stammers: Oh my God! Oh mein Gott! Oh mon Dieu! Ay Dios mio! Vay Khoda! Oy vey! Ma donna santa! Ya Allah! Boze moi!
Remember Bud thinks soccer is a commie sport. That would be like Pat Robertson doing a 180 from his stance on marijuana in the 80's. If that happends ,Help us Jesus!
Stranger things have happened. I went to the USMNT game last year at Titans Stadium. Have a great photo of me flipping off a banner of him. I would still wretch if he bought the team.
