Spooky just put up Parts III & IV as well. I'm sorta slammed at work, otherwise I'd put the links up. Rep for anyone that does.
The regression of Harry Redknapp's Tottenham-Part III The regression of Harry Redknapp's Tottenham-Part IV
I advocate getting rid of him. He took a top 3 side and f'ked it up. He's just going to piss Levy off by demanding more money for players to qualify for the CL when he could've got in this year. Twat.
He'll probably get one more season to do the job, either win a title or get a place higher than 4th. Heck we dumped Jol for consecutive 5th place finishes... has 'Arry peaked with two 4ths (a BLOWN 3rd)? By the same standard he should be gone.
So we change manager and get a champions league spot twice and we fire? Not our fault Locomotiv London F'ed us.
Both are true... Yes, we should have made sure to control our own destiny by winning when Arsenal lost, a key week because we knew then that the chances of a Chelsea CL win were realistic. But, we have to admit that a top 4 finish, 90% of the time, is good enough for the CL. For me the key is the loss of form in the late winter months. That was where there are questions in the quality of Redknapp as manager. Because he didn't squash the rumors of the England job, he basically told his players: Playing for me is temporary, I don't have commitment here. It was an impossible situation in many ways, because if he'd squashed the rumors he'd have been lying. We all knows, he knows, the players know, that he'd take that job in a minute because he always said he'd be honored to have the job. It was a trap for him from the moment the tabloids ran with the rumors. Spurs were screwed from that moment on. If the FA had gone ahead and made a decision more quickly then there is a decent chance the team would have rebounded much more quickly and we'd have finished in 3rd.
I agreed with this for now. Let his contract run for the last season. If we fail to get 3rd, his contract will not be renew.
Another year seems the smart money, especially given the paucity of available candidates who would take the job and genuinely do better.
i agree. but Levy needs to make HR understand the clubs ambition for next year and say that anything less than 4th is unacceptable (what are the odds another 4th isn't good enough scenario happens like this year? 4th should be good enough) unless they manage to strengthen the squad in some key areas (find the next hidden gem like cisse!), 3rd place should be the target goal, IMO.
