I remember Adu making a big deal in his presser about how the number 11 was important to him and how he thanked Houapeu or someone for giving it up to him.... considering Seba said he didn't care about the number at all it doesn't make any sense that Adu would just give it to him.

Adu is out of the country. Maybe the FO figures they will deal with it when he gets back.

Knowing Sack, he won't make any effort and hopes Freddy will take the hint.

If Freddy leaves, and we are already without Gomez, AM just became a gaping hole. Even if you are in the camp that believes Marfan is capable of sparking the attack, there really isn't any experienced cover at that position on the roster then. Torres has the passing skills but is just as inexperienced (even more so) than M. Farfan.

DP money open in the salary budget, curious what (presumably) Argentine playmaker is going to fill it...

He's been back in Philly for a week or two. He is just going to be with Gala from now on.

Isn't a CAM one of the positions - along with LB - that Hack recently commented on?
Any truth to this, or just wishful thinking?

Since you seem to know so much, is money going to the Union or from the Union in this deal?

Gomez changes nothing in that regard. He wasn't an AM he was a box to box DM

Mmm. I don't think Gomez was a proper top-of-the-diamond attacking midfielder but for the lack of defense he played, you can't give him credit for box to box play. I don't know if he was injured, out of shape, or just not used to the pace of MLS, but he didn't get back on defense often enough to earn the distinction.

Regardless, he is a central midfielder with attacking qualities no longer on the roster.

It is. Hack has talked about "finding youth to create depth at LB" and "finding a veteran to put less pressure on Marfan as a playmaker".

That may very well play out as "draft a natural LB to develop behind Garfan" and "sign a veteran CAM to push Marfan back out wide". Veteran GK for behind Zack has also been a point of discussion if I recall correctly.

Which would put Adu at the position of far out left bench.

I think they've decided to give Freddy the proverbial keys to the car, and with that the vaunted number 10 shirt.

FWIW, Tannenwald tells me on my Twitter (@mattylipesq - follow me!) that they're trying to move him. No surprise, I guess, but it has not been reported by anyone as fact as far as I know.

Followed ... and wasn't there some tidbit that came out a little while back that, even though his contract is through 2013, the coaching staff wouldn't let him see a minute of playing time?
