The only thing I can think is he must be a total dink. Coaches and teammates must hate dealing with his prima donna stuff. Sorry for the pure speculation but that's the only way I can justify why he has moved around so much. Yankee I don't think it's his defense as people claimed early in his career. The truth is he is an inconsistent offensive producer. That said I think he's good enough for the national team to use as a specialist or super-sub. When he's on, Adu can change a game like not many of the US guys can. It's shocking that an MLS team wouldn't want to utilize him. Perhaps it's a salary thing?
All of this may or not be correct until you wrote the words 'impact on the game.' He almost always has an impact on the game for the USMNT. I think you were actually trying to say the exact opposite. You want Adu to 'be less' offensive and adventuresome and instead allow and help his teammates in managing the tempo of the match. You are in fact saying you want him to have 'less impact' on the match.
That's not at all what I was saying. I was saying "impact on the sport" or "impact on the game of soccer" I don't want Adu to be less offensive. I want to see him improve his first touch. He should be able to control a pass in traffic that's drilled to his feet. I want to see him pass to the front foot and give his teammates a chance to beat someone with their first touch. I want to see him make better runs and open up space for his teammates with quality movement. These are all things expected of a modern CAM
Perhaps it can't be "justified"? Life isn't fair and Misunderstood Genius is so common it is a cliche.
I see what he's saying. Like 4 out of 5 times he has a perfect first touch - the best in our player pool. But sometimes when he's on a break and moving forward slightly his touch can get too big and he loses the ball. Not that this doesn't happen to everyone else in our player pool.
This. American players in general don't have great first touches. Even Bradley and Dempsey don't have great first touches. So saying Adu has one of the better first touches in the pool doesn't say a whole lot. Dempsey and Bradley make up for their average first touch with work rate, good passes, dangerous shots, and/or creative movement. Adu needs to either fix his deficiencies, or find ways to mitigate them like our other top players.
Which is why the Philadelphia Union released him? How about - How many clubs were interested in Freddy Adu last transfer window? ZERO.
I don't think anyone around here is comparing Freddy's legacy to that of one of the most gifted and versatile defensive players of his era.
Adu has the second best touch in CONCACAF behind dos Santos (another genius who can't get a club game). Absurd.
yes it took me two days and 4 reads to agree. "If you break it down even more" you are right. Cheers.
The coaches speak? sheeit dog.....I never listened to no coaches. Except when they be talkin' starting lineup. Then my ears perk up. yR out.
practice? Mad love to my hommies mthead and holto. "one thing for sure, two things for certain". yR out sucka.
Is he going to play for the Union this year? Is he in pre-season training with them? Didn't think so.
If he is a baller - how come no club in the WORLD was interested in Freddy Adu during the last transfer window?
And with appearance of Aduesque and Schapes yet another Freddie Adu thread hits exponential growth phase. Over/under on the number of posts?
