Our new international signing. 48 year DM, recently cut from the Yemen 12th division. But, we got him CHEAP BABY!!!!!
I have always wondered if they'd stick around after the GBS days were done. I guess this is a silver lining to the fact that they're staying. Sucks for the section, but I can't see them being very happy where they're moving. Sure, they took a lot of crap compared to the other two SGs, but at the end of the day there really aren't that many of them to get anything going besides some background drops now more out of sync with Nordecke chants. They had one real chant catch on "yo si la voy..." because it was simple. I remember one game they passed out some cards with 3 or so songs on them, but due to length and the complexity, non Spanish speakers could not keep up and keep them going. It sucks but unless they recruit a LOT more people who can sing those songs that's the reality they face. I'm sad, but I guessing it will be the post GBS death of LTA, just at a slower trickle.
I say let them move if they think it's what is best. I think the Nordecke has taken a downturn since 2008, early 2009 anyways. The ammount of creativity and new songs seemed disappointing to me overall in 2010. A shakeup may be just what the Nordecke needs. Like I said, and tried to start at the beginning of last season, an ultras group would fit in the middle of there nicely. Especially if everyone in that group (say 75 guys) was on beat and brought a new chant weekly that everyone in that group knew which could filter out to the other groups, and esp. to the "sort of" HSH's and CSU's 10-15 rows up. The language barrier was an issue, LTA didn't communicate their chants well to the rest of the section and neither did anyone else with a new English chant. It's natural, same thing happened eventually with Houston, and we were hanging on to this, although it was inevitable. Maybe they can grow and the Nordecke can grow by division. The more noise around the stadium the better and LTA might be more attractive to more Hondurans and Mexican people in Columbus in their own area, doing their own thing. I can respect that. It's not the end of the world, it's an opportunity. If LTA can bring 500-700 Spanish speaking fans to their section eventually and the Nordecke can fill out their absence in the corner, all the better. It didn't take the Nordecke long to fill out in 2008, so good things can happen quickly. Further, if we want new chants started in the Nordecke you need a sizeable group that communicates on a forum, brings up a new chant, and everyone knows it in this group, and these people sit in the same area. Then it can filter out. There isn't this collective "I care to start new chants or banners" in any other group. I'm sorry if that irks people for me to say, but it's the truth. Lots of the average fans in the Nordecke are quite alright with singing "We Love You" 40 times a game. Sure there are some that try, but for 75% of the current groups it's "I come to the game and get drunk, and chant when it suits me..." Which is fine, at least those ppl come to games. But, I think there needs to be some group concerned overally with making sure new chants get going and banners get made, that gets things going and takes control of those two things. It's not taking anything from another group, because overall they don't do that (they have their own specializations and uses). It's just some group needs to make those two things happen because no group does that currently on a consistent basis. I won't be starting a group, and good luck to whoever does, all I got to say is at least LTA doesn't try to shutdown any new group that tries to start something new in the section. The Nordecke could use something new, a new group, anything to bring a spark when it comes to chants. I find it unlikely.. I mean every group considers themselves to be influential in starting chants and the creativity in the section, every group thinks their the best out of the section when it comes to those things. But, the funny thing is no one currently does any of that, all new banners and chants are started usually on an individual, not a collective basis. And the Nordecke rather knock it's head against a wall 500 times, than see the obvious in these areas. A lot of other supporters groups made great leaps during the 2010 season, when the Nordecke took baby steps at best in my opinion. Hopefully, 2011 will be a season of leaps.
The 'rhythm' section that is, LTA, have announced (via Facebook) that they have decided to go to section 139, which is by the stage.
This will make for an interesting dynamic in the section chant/song wise being so spread out, going to take a while to get used to.
Honestly, it'll be better than the 206 they originally announced. The only negative I can think about is that it basically does away with the "lighter version" of the Nordecke that was sort of going on in that section, but things will work out. That's a small negative in the grand scheme of things. It'll also give them more room to grow. I always thought they seemed a little cramped in their little "wedge" between CSU and HSH. Hopefully they'll down out/work with that singular drummer that was over there in the first row. I'm pleased they're staying in the Nordecke.
I was down on the stage after halftime and that drum was LOUD on the stage. I have to think the keeper would have issues.
Doesn't that one have "their name" on it? A few times I would see the one longer haired guy (big flag guy) and someone else carry that drum everywhere, even to New York away last year.
yep Trommel. Such a great idea to have drum written in German on a drum played by the Latino supporters group... If I were to be here full time I would be happy to take over drum duties for CSU in 101 but I will not be back in C-bus until July probably... I've got rhythm.
The drum has the Crew's logo on it, says Trommel. Officially it's the Nordecke's. So really anyone can use it, but since LTA usually drums and has the most drummers they have always used it. I highly doubt it could move hands at this point, without someone from somewhere making a big whine n stink. Just get another drum!
We have the regular size bass drum that we've been using. Just need someone to get it and play it consistently so we have an ability to start chants easier on the east side of the section.
