Turkish/American Adam Kelemet who played for Long Island University is currently on trial with Pogoń Szczecin of the Polish 2nd division. http://ligowiec.net/news/35029-dwoch-nowych-testowanych.html http://www.futbol.pl/artykul/88880.html http://liuathletics.com/roster.aspx?rp_id=657 There is another trialist a keeper named Kamil Kaminski from the same US club as Kelemet. But I don't know if he is American. The various articles I have looked at mention Polish decent, but I don't know if he has US citizenship. Anyone with a better grasp of Polish or knows anything about Kaminski able to figure this out? One article mentions that he is 17, so he could be eligible for some YNT camps if he is a decent player.
This doesn't really answer you, but he may have played for Poland YNTs: http://www.tff.org/default.aspx?pageID=471&ftxtID=8997&2586pg=3 http://www.uefa.com/under17/teams/player=250016521/index.html Though it doesn't look like he was a GK in that match -- he scored a goal -- so maybe it's a different guy.
The team Kelemet and Kaminski played for had a match vs Pogoń Szczecin in November. This is probably how the 2 players got noticed. Yessir. I'm going in August for Cracovia Krakow youth/reserves. Why was Icon FC (based where?) playing against a Polish division two team? Just a European tour for practice or...?
Josh Tudela had a brief trial or training stint with Cracovia last year. I spent a few minutes trying to find a website for Icon FC but no luck.
Interesting. Doesn't look like he made it or wanted to stay. I'm trying for the youth/reserve at 19, though.
Good luck. And if they sign you and you could conceivably qualify for American citizenship let DMN know so he can put you on the list.
Good luck. You can start your own thread if you want we always welcome first hand accounts around here.
Kelemet may still join Pogon Szczecin: And other teammates may also get opportunities in Poland as a result of these training trips. These players may or may not be American though. http://www.northjersey.com/sports/99604359_United_Nations_earns_a_spot.html?page=all
From the always helpful @iamalfred: This looks like his team profile page, but it's pretty bare: http://www4.idrottonline.se/SandvikensIF-Fotboll/A-laget/Spelartrupp2014/AdamKelemet/ SIF has three Yanks at the moment: Berhanu, Kelemet and Seth Rudloph. Sandvikamerica?
The local paper had a big article today about the three Sandviken americans who are going to bring the club back into the third tier. The article mentions the previous success of Andrew Stadler and the club president praises american players and the way that they are easy to work with, adaptable and skilled. He compares them to african players and says that americans adapt much quicker. Sandviken apparantly has a hookup with a guy working in Boston for some football related company called GPS and through that guy they hope to bring over even more and better american players. The article also mentions that the three players share a four room apartment in central Sandviken and make $2300 per month. Kelemet mentions that this causes problems for him because he enjoys buying expensive swedish name brand jeans. Kelemet does mention at the end of the article that he is living his dream by getting to play football full time but that in the future he wants to work in marketing, preferably for Nike. Berhanu on the other hand says he wants to stay in sport and perhaps become a sports journalist. The article also notes that Seth Rudolph seems to be the most ambitious out of the three when it comes to his goal of playing at a higher level. In the article the manager also describes all three players and this is what he had to say about Kelemet: "A technical midfielder, who has his strength in the attacking part of the game. Good at finding opportunities to finish, but has unfortunaly been injured a bit during preseason. Like the others he is loyal and works hard for the team."
Sandviken did not manage to return to the third tier which I guess would have to be considered a dissapointment. They also announced that Berhanu and Kelemet won't be getting contract extentions. Seth Rudolph on the other hand did get one even though his season has been plagued by injuries.
