It is a good question. Pineda has the resume. At the same time, it's also the quality of the players. This was their first year in the NASL, and the last league they were in they finished 9th. It's both the players and the coach. Obviously in the NASL you're not going to have as big of an access to players like an MLS club, but very few are raised in the club (not counting ex-NCAA players). Ciaran O'Brien is their leading goal scorer and he's a guy they signed from Colorado. Jimmy Maurer is the GK, he did play for the U-23's, but that's one of our few home-grown types.
Chacon has been with the organization a long time. He played in MLS and the USL for many years. His English is flawless. So, he knows the problems, and from what I've seen he will have the support of the players. Now what kind of budget will he have to improve things? We can't expect miracles, but this is a good move.
