Matt Mills is certainly not crap, Matt Mills is a horrible, cynical, cheat and could fall out with his own reflection. His main interest is shadowing the referee telling him how to control the game. When he's not falling out with teammates and managers though, he is a very good Championship defender.

Inauspicious pre-season so far for Bolton - 3 games up in Scotland, 0 wins.

They conceded last night after just 14 seconds when Ream was caught daydreaming and his man lobbed the keeper after an optimistic ball over the top..

So he has been playing as a CB in these last three games?

Bolton had 3 games and you chose to highlight Ream's supposed mistake

Well, it is a Ream thread, isn't it? I suspect folks here really don't care much about the mistakes made by Zat Knight (or insert other Bolton defender here).

It might also be important to note that the match ended 1-1 and that Ream played 90.

Actually, if the official Bolton website is to be believed, they lost one and drew three on their trip to Scotland.

Edit: One of those draws involved a reserve/underage Bolton squad.

I'm talking about yesterday's match. Eagles scored the goal for Bolton.

I'm going to make an early prediction that Coyle doesn't last past January, and maybe before that. If you look at the results of that team going back to the end of the 10-11 season, it's pretty damning. They need Holden back in a bad way.

    Yes.
Its the Ream thread, and Ream was massively at fault for said goal - where else would an update go.

Lee Chung-Yong, the Korean winger is back from injury. Lee, Holden and Cahill (now at Chelsea) are/were Bolton's best player's IMO. Losing Elmander to Galatasaray also hurt.

Yep Mills in one of the best CBs in the Championship

let me rephrase, in 3 games I'm sure Ream made dozens of plays and what I object to is your selecting the one supposed mistake.
Care to mention any good plays Ream made.

Can't help you there as I didn't see any of the matches. And I'd be willing to bet that the poster who did comment on Ream's mistake only caught highlights on Sky.

Lee will really help once he regains fitness. If he and Stu get back to where they were, Bolton is promotion candidates. If they don't, it'll be a few years at least until they're back in the EPL as I doubt either will stay at Bolton past this season if they don't get promotion.

As for Ream I thought he did well last season after coming over but still struggles against physical attackers. He'll also have to adjust to the championship at it's played at a different tempo than the EPL.

so he had to adjust to the pace of the EPL now the championship is a step up in tempo? Do players just sprint till they drop dead in the championship? And does that mean league 1 is played at light speed where players literally evaporate due to the insane tempo of the league?

As im not a Bolton fan or ST holder, I wasnt on their Scottish tour and unsurprisingly, those games are not shown live. What was shown were the highlights of the Falkirk game and Ream being caught daydreaming as Falkirk took an early lead. A statement of fact that you've gotten rather worked up over.

In other news, Bolton rumoured to be in talks with Ben-Haim to join Matt Mills as CB arrivals.

So what exactly did Ream do wrong on that play?

A statement of fact it most certainly is not!
    1. Was it Ream who made a supposed error? Why should I believe you?
    2. Was it an error? Why should I believe you?
    3. Was Ream "caught"? How do you know? Why should I believe you?
    4. Was Ream "daydreaming"? How do you know? Prove it. Rather difficult, as it is unprovable.

IMHO, your use of the word 'daydreaming' gives the lie to the entire statement because it shows bias.

2 yards behind the rest of the defence as Falkirk played a long hoof over the top immediately after kickoff playing the striker onside.

You don't have to believe anything you clearly are not comfortable with hearing. It was a meaningless friendly. Playing the striker in within 10 seconds of kick-off because you haven't come out with your defence though can only be described as daydreaming.

@Ikorin :You hit the nail on the head. Also notice that he still evades, and wont answer my original critisism of his post namely that he selected a bad play from 3 games as indicative of his quality.

But that's not what he did. Nowhere did he make any conclusions about Ream's overall quality (or lack thereof) based on his observation of that particular play (which may or may not have been a correct interpretation of said play, as there seems to be some dispute).

He must have Usain Bolt-esque pace then to make up the yards he is lagging behind Zat Knight in the second between the ball being played and the striker receiving it.
