Molson Coors agreed to renew its sponsorship of the NFL through 2010 in a five-year deal worth $500 million, Street & Smith's SportsBusiness Journal reported. Coors' current four-year, $240 million deal will expire after this season, which begins Thursday, Sept. 8. The league also had been negotiating with Anheuser-Busch, the sponsor of 28 NFL teams.
The ACC on Wednesday got its first tangible proof of how much expansion will mean to the league: A football television contract with ABC and ESPN worth about $260 million over seven years. The new contract nearly doubles the average annual income under the last agreement, commissioner John Swofford said. The previous league contract, signed in 1998, was worth about $21 million per year. The new contract would provide an estimated $37 million to $37.5 million annually.

ESPN3 is a great thing to watch soccer on. I think it would be better if they could get some Scottish and French football on there personally.
For a research project on soccer, I need some data on the Asian Soccer, mainly the estimated nº of fans (Japan, Malaysia and Korea), amount of TV rights, merchandising values and other info. I would be very grateful for your help. You can send to nunoarpinto@gmail.com
CBS Sports and NBC Sports recently announced deal to create their own sports radio networks, with business partners in the radio business. First, CBS Radio announced an agreement with Cumulus to create the CBS Sports Radio Network. Several CBS Radio stations will become part of the new network, including WFAN and WIP-AM. http://www.crainsnewyork.com/article/20120621/MEDIA_ENTERTAINMENT/120629976 http://rbr.com/cbs-radio-cumulus-pact-for-cbs-sports-radio-network http://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-radio/releases/view?id=32154 Podcast interview with Dan Mason of CBS Radio: http://newyork.cbslocal.com/?podcast_url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.podtrac.com%2Fpts%2Fredirect.mp3%2Fnyc.podcast.play.it%2Fmedia%2Fd0%2Fd0%2Fd1%2Fd0%2FdQ%2FdR%2FdR%2F10QRR_3.MP3%3Fauthtok%3D5561805154215023267_P8ycEL3JhDk4ztk5eJCpabwt9I&podcast_name=Dan+Mason++-+With+Mike+Francesa&podcast_artist=Mike+Francesa&station_id=62&tag=pages&dcid=CBS.NY The plan is to go 24/7, starting in January '13. Bottom of the scale but one that shows a strong upward trend... Football Federation Australia can thank Alessandro Del Piero for helping it squeeze every last possible dollar out of Fox Sports and SBS with a $39 million-a-year deal. IT is understood the federal government finally signed off on the deal on Friday night, though much of the detail of the $156m windfall has been out in the public domain for months. It is believed Fox Sports will pay close to $32m a year for the rights to televise all five A-League matches every week as well as Australia's World Cup qualifiers, while SBS will contribute $7m. For the first time in the A-League, one game will be shown live on free-to-air television through SBS while World Cup qualifiers will be shown on the network on a one-hour delay. The new deal easily eclipses the existing broadcast deal, in which FFA was paid $19m a year over seven years. Club owners will get a bigger slice of the revenue and it will help them cover the $2.5m-a-season salary cap. At the moment, the clubs receive an annual $1.9m distribution from FFA. Some clubs are in such a tight financial situation that they don't spend their entire salary cap. Read more: http://sandiego.futbolfocus.com/news/del-piero-a-game-changer-in-aussie-broadcast-deal
ESPN's John Skipper on Sports Rights, Layoffs and Keith Olbermann: 'We Don't Have a Policy Here That You Can Never Come Back' (Q&A) http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/espn-john-skipper-keith-olbermann-574231 http://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Daily/Issues/2013/06/27/Media/Skipper-QnA.aspx
I'm trying to decide whether to switch from Comcast (which has BeInSport) to Astound (which has Fox Sports 2). The one unknown piece of information for me is, is Fox broadcasting the Club World Cup in 2013? I can't find who has it. Google searches tell me that Fox had a contract that ended with the 2012 CWC, and that it gets it back beginning in 2015... but who has it in the meantime?
Fox and Telemundo to Show World Cup Through 2026 as FIFA Extends Contracts - N.Y. Times http://www.nytimes.com/2015/02/13/s...s-fifa-extends-contracts.html?ref=sports&_r=0 Fox and Telemundo have not shown a second of World Cup action, but on Thursday they added the 2026 Cup to their rights to broadcast the 2018 and 2022 soccer tournaments in the United States. The networks extended their contracts in direct talks with FIFA, soccer’s world governing body. There was no bidding with competing networks as there was when Fox and Telemundo, the Spanish-language network owned by NBCUniversal, agreed to pay about $400 million (Fox) and $600 million, which was enough to outbid ESPN and Univision for the 2018 and 2022 rights. An ESPN executive who was not authorized to speak publicly said the company had received no advance warning that the 2026 rights were being sold. FIFA’s brief and surprising announcement of the new contract offered no financial details. But by agreeing to add the 2026 rights, it is possible that the two networks received a financial break by agreeing to a potential move of the 2022 World Cup from the extreme heat of the Qatari summer to the winter.
NY Times had a good write-up on NFL revenue. Something for MLS to shoot for... "everyone wants a piece of the Shield. Put it on TV, and people will watch; put it on a jersey, they will wear it. The N.F.L.’s total revenue in 2015 ($12.4 billion) is nearly double that of a decade earlier ($6.6 billion). The price of television ads during the Super Bowl has increased by more than 75 percent over the last decade. This year’s conference championship games set yet another viewership record for the league: 53.3 million people watched the A.F.C. game on CBS; 45.7 million watched the N.F.C. game on Fox. Goodell talks constantly about ‘‘growing the pie,’’ finding new revenue streams and ways to make the N.F.L. a ‘‘year-round’’ experience rather than just during fall and winter. He has said he wants the N.F.L. to achieve $25 billion in gross revenue by 2027. No league is as relentless when it comes to growth and making cash for its billionaire cartel. It’s reminiscent of a shark that will die if it doesn’t keep moving and ripping little fish to shreds." http://www.nytimes.com/2016/02/07/m...ll-machine.html?smid=tw-nytmag&smtyp=cur&_r=0
