Its the ultimate irony that this has happened during the Levenson inquiry http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...one-dead-suspected-suicide.html#ixzz2ENP9v1I3
I didn't come up with the terminology, dude. A game about contract killing really shouldn't be this much fun.
When I was at uni, there was this terrific satirical TV show on called "In de Gloria". One of their best ever bits was a fake report about a hidden camera show gone wrong, where the victim of the prank (who had a history of mental issues) had gone ballistic and killed the TV show host on camera. I remember thinking how hilarious that bit was, but also realizing it was terribly unsettling because it was just 1% removed from reality. Perhaps 1% removed from reality was a too optimistic estimate...
She directed Hurt Locker. TBF to Ellis, I do somewhat agree with his appraisal of her filmography (though obviously not with his misogyny). Her best two movies are "Point Break" and "Hurt Locker". Nothing wrong with that, but it's hardly the kind of stuff that would get you on any "greatest directors of the past 20 years" list.
I thought Strange Days was also excellent, and she also directed a few episodes of the TV show Homicide: Life on the Street, which was the forerunner to The Wire. Maybe she's not one of the greatest directors of the past 20 years, but I'm comfortable putting her in the top 20%. Anything that she does is worth at least checking out.
Folks, if you have a lot of time on your hands, you should watch the first four seasons of Homicide: Life on the Street. Especially you, Jitty. You read Simon's book. A lot of Homicide comes from Simon's book.
On the other hand, I'm really surprised to see Bret Easton Ellis be misogynist. Who could have predicted that?!?
