This is stupid. I am a recent Portland transplant and was recently at the 442 Soccer Pub. A friend of mine is arguing that the Timber's Army scarves put up on the walls weren't given/put there by supporters themselves. Can someone please validate this, one way or the other? Thanks and ******** you.
I know the TA guys were there when the wood slab (or 'round') was put up. It definitely gets TA support. But, apparently, not unanimous support.
Well, I work right down the street so I went there for lunch today. The place is covered in the jerseys, scarves, flags and posters of all sorts of different teams but the Timbers are the best represented by far. Unfortunately there was a NY Red Bulls scarf and a Philadelphia Union jersey. Ugh. Apparently the owner played in Europe many moons ago. Nice guy, very talkative, didn't let me order what I wanted (a hot dog and a salad) and made me try his bosnian beef sausage instead. It was pretty good. There is some standard bar food but it's mostly Bosnian. I would definitely go back for a game or really anytime that I could actually drink. This place has great reviews on Yelp, for what that's worth.
Yes, that was the funny part. And I didn't even get my stupid salad. Judging from the Yelp reviews, he chats up everyone and pushes his Bosnian food.
