FIFA originally instituted an altitude ban on World Cup Qualifiers above 2500 meters but they since changed it the following after pressure from CONMEBOL. • Above 2,500m: acclimatisation period of three days strongly recommended; • Above 2,750m: mandatory acclimatisation period of one week; • Above 3,000m: games generally not permitted except with a minimum acclimatisation period of two weeks.
Actually, I knew these rules. But none of these have to do with number of substititues allowed. Denver isn't above 2500 meters is it? A mile high is only 1600 meters. So Bunge's point was pure bullshit, and out of line. What a ********ing surprise.
There is a difference, a big one actually, between competition rules and the Laws of the Game. The altitude guidelines are not codified in TLOTG...
I'm not paying to see who gets tired first... I want to see fresh players, showing off their skills, not tiredness. But four subs is weak and still far too few!!! It should be unlimited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Players should be able to sit for a few minutes and get a water break before heading back out again.
What is this? Girls' rec league at the park. Good players shouldn't get tired. That's part of the game. Endurance is one of the defining things of the sports. It's also why my smoking ass never mastered this game.
