Pogrebnyak causing Brana some early problems. Absolutely nothing from Torres so far (shock, gasp). Oscar looks out of place on the right. Every attack ends up at the feet of Cesar with no one to cross to.
Reading closing things down fast in midfield seems to have little solutions in the final third (nothing new there)
insightful and interesting commetatory so far should be clear that Tony Gale is not on the mic tonight
Incisive passing does not occur without good movement into dangerous areas. Torres does not offer this.
LB at LW, a CM/AM at RW, a pair of B2Bs at DM, and Torres at striker. Gotta love a stubborn manager who never changes the formation. Decent attack there. Gotta make something of these corners. Probably the only way we'll score.
hard to believe in Sept. Oct. we were playing some of the most scintillating Football we had in years
Bertrand is infuriating. The lad has a good cross, good pace, and can get down the line, and yet he plays scared. Honestly, I think Van Aanholt, when he returns, will win the plays for backup to A.Cole. He'd be far more adept at the role Berty is playing.
I hate the way he plays (or is deployed?). All he needs to do is stay between the touchline and the channel, wait for someone to pick him out as the defense collapses, and then drive to the byline and either beat his man or get a cross in. I have no ********ing idea why he always tries to run in between the FB/CB. There he is again, in the 6-yd box. The ball is cleared toward the left flank and there's no Chelsea player there to win it. I think it's Benitez's tactics. The "wingers" are supposed to get inside and link up with Mata/Torres while the fullbacks get forward. It stifles everything. With that left foot and crossing ability, Bertrand should never be running infield onto his right side.
I don't think he'll be a world-beater there, but he's barely putting a shift, let alone a serviceable one in there. At least get down the byline and attempt crosses.
agreed and thus why I did not buy into the "I told you he could play LW" arguments after the CL Final
