O'Malley is a terrible, awful public speaker and he struggles on the stump, even here in the Maryland hinterlands. I don't think he's got a chance of handling the retail type politics of New Hampshire and Iowa well enough to make it above single digits. I expect he'll make lots of noises of running, but think instead he's lining up to take aim at Sen Mikulski's seat, should she not run again in 4 years. And she's not formally announced that she'll seek another term, which at this point in her election cycle 6 years ago, she had.

Can Jimmy Carter run for president again in 2016?

Ah yes, the classic political comeback narrative: Serve one term, lose reelection, but return 36 years later!

    That would be awesome.

    http://thinkprogress.org/yglesias/2009/01/28/191537/mike_pences_ode_to_rush_limbaugh/?mobile=nc

    And even better:

    http://thinkprogress.org/yglesias/2008/09/26/189704/mike_pence_2/

Basically, Pence is Eric Cantor's stupid cousin, which makes him very, very stupid indeed.

Yes, and so can Bush the Elder. I'm predicting an old school battle royale, Bush I v Carter for 45th prez and winner of the Grover Cleveland Championship Belt.

Cory Brooker provides future opponents with free video to use in future negative campaign ads

This is probably in the New Jersey threads, but there's some footage at the bottom of the brief slate.com article that we'll no doubt see if Booker makes a run in 2016 or 2020. As described by the mayor's hometown paper...

A behind-the-scenes political maneuver by Newark Mayor Cory Booker to fill a vacant council seat with his choice led to a near-riot in city hall tonight, with dozens of residents rushing the council stage and police responding with pepper-spray....

After the vote, residents stood chanting "Cory’s gotta go!" as officials shouted over the confusion. But when Speight was escorted by police to be sworn in, a group of residents, led by SEIU Local 617 President Rahaman Muhammad, stormed the dais and appeared to lunge toward Speight and her grade-school-age son.
Police restrained the group as they toppled a podium and residents were caught in the rush....

I read the article about that incident in the NJ paper and maybe I just don't know NJ city law very well but I don't see how it was behind-the-scenes maneuvering. The city council split its vote and the mayor cast the deciding vote for who he wanted.

I think Hillary may be done with politics. I could see Biden and Brian Schweitzer being among the candidates on the Dem side. I think Pence might run on the GOP side as well as a governor or two. Should be interesting to watch.

Cory Booker is running for U.S. Senate in 2014, which I think he'll be a big favorite for. Don't see a run for President in 2016.

I'm not sure. I don't know how much his antics are actually well suited for being an executive. I think he'd be a good legislator, he could raise awareness on national issues.

What "antics"? The man is a proven solid executive already.

He looooves Wall Street though, doesn't he? I am vaguely recalling a news story from the presidential campaign. Booker somehow put his foot in it, and it involved defending Wall Street, if I remember correctly...

He's fine, but he's a bit too heavy handed with his publicity seeking for me. I mean, great that he rescued a woman from a fire. But then he goes on talk shows to talk about it. Just decline the interview! It would have been more impressive that way. He's always on twitter and TV. He likes stunts like when he lived for a week on food stamps. Mind you I'm not actively against any of this, it's just that I think as an executive, it can rub people the wrong way when it seems like you're promoting your own brand so much.

Barack Obama loves Wall Street. Most national politicians do. If you disqualify someone for that, your choices are going to be pretty narrow.
