By far his best game of the season. He was very physical this game and tackled the ball well. His biggest need to advance to the next level is to improve his crosses. Next game may be interesting as it's possible that FCD is down their three top CM's. Two by injury (Moffat - hamstring, Jacobson - carried off on stretcher for ankle) and one by card (Thomas - red card in injury time). Will be interesting to see if Ulloa or Danny Garcia get into the game as a starter or reserve. Someone (or two) need to pair with Mauro Diaz.
Happy 18th birthday................................Junior Flores!!!! Probably on a plane right now to sign the official Dortmund paperwork! Now he can work over there full time. It'll be interesting to see where they have him start, and how quickly he can progress.
woah nelly!!!, he still has to get german residency/work visa set up, register with fed, obtain international fifa transfer permit which is certified in transfer window before he can touch field as league player.... i know. But yes, cant wait to see him start playing next season.

Also a column today about Junior Flores: http://twelfthyank.blogspot.com/201...howComment=1396275014289#c1203938155312533645 If anybody still has lingering El Salvador concerns (and I don't know why you would)....................Flores' comments in that blog should put them to rest.
He already signed it when he turned 18. He had signed a precontract with them, but he needed to turn 18 to make it official.
So did he do that recently then? Just trying to gain clarity. I know Boyd wanted to sign a contract with Dortmund, but it looks like Flores has accomplished that.

This past Saturday, US U20 midfielder Eric Lickert went a full 90 for Freiburg's U19 team in a 2-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the semifinals of the DFB U19 Cup. Freiburg will take on Schalke in the DFB U19 Cup Final on May 17 http://www.scfreiburg.com/node/7327
Sorry. I meant to put both the Yedlin article and the Stanko article in the Olympic qualifying thread. Lo Siento.....................
We know. It was a simple mistake that we've all made and likely will again. Doesn't mean we won't give you shit for it, though .
USAprospects @USAprospects 21m CONFIRMED :: '96 Houston Dynamo Academy starlet Elo Ozumba received US Citizenship & is eligible for US youth team duties. Big time player
Ozumba is expected to play at Northwestern U. in the fall: Personal: Born Elochukwu Chizaram Ozumba in Warri, Nigeria ... Son of Bertram and Chinyere Ozumba ... Older Sisters; Ada and Chikwado Ozumba attend Texas A&M University and Texas State San Marcus respectively... Chose Northwestern over UCLA, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and UNC Chapel Hill. Coach Lenahan on Ozumba: "Elo is quite simply one of the best players and top recruits in the country. He was on the top of the list of some of the best program in the college soccer. His size and athleticism plus his ability to finish make him someone who should have an immediate impact on our team. There's a reason he led all Academy players in scoring last year and looking forward to teaming him up with two-time All-Big Ten player, Joey Calistri for our own version of `Thunder and Lightning.'" http://www.nusports.com/sports/m-soccer/spec-rel/021114aab.html
First goal -- timed run, very powerful left-footed finish from a tight angle. Second -- he's left by himself (I couldn't see an obvious push) in front of the GK for a header. Third -- another powerful lefty finish from 18 with a couple of defenders on him at speed after a defensive mistake.
Good the more strikers in the pool the better. Hopefully he signs a HG contract either this year or after his freshmen year. So it can speed up his development. Wonder if Ramos gives him a look
Since Lenahan talked about Ozumba leading the DA in scoring last year, it probably bears adding that Ozumba isn't in the top 25 in goals per game this year. Another thing I noticed is that Christian Pulisic scored 15 goals in 21 games last year in the U16 division. For a kid who was only 13 at the start of that season, that's awfully impressive.
