Three goals for Germany in 4 minutes, also Maier with a "Reverse Wembley Goal" (ball was over the line but not counted).
While England and Germany have been holding everyone's attention, under the radar there was another game. Finland beat Kazakhstan 2-0.
Now I wonder if Russia could miss the play-offs because of the goal difference. Good result for Kazakhstan, although not as impressive as their win against Switzerland.
I saw today's game between Germany and Russia. No need to wonder why the first were crowned European Champions this summer ... A very, very impressive steamroller with, at the end a very special 9-0 ... The Germans played 2000 miles an hour and each attack could/should have been a goal without the great Russian GK ... A real killing ... Anja Mittag was missing and Popp did not play ... Lucky Russians... Lira Bajramaj who came in during the second half, seems determined to return to her best, and it's scary for the time to come ... Ok, the Russians were completely absent, but whose fault was it ? They were just cut into pieces without mercy. The Frauen Mannschafft today, it was the All Blacks when they decide to punish the opponent ... And just think that they have two more years to harden their young girls...
I was hoping the Germany match would be archived here with the others at this YouTube link. It's not there (at least not yet). Does anyone know where to watch a replay of the Germany vs. Russia match? http://www.youtube.com/user/maraboo72/videos
Hey now, careful with your quotes! You've literally put WPS_M's words into my mouth. I'm not that delusional.
Steamroller is the word.... Bajramaj was excellent in the second half, but Marozsan finally wakes up and... After the horrible PK call, I was honestly shocked at how smooth and incisive Germany's pass and move was for the rest of the 90 mins, but 9-0 versus a decent Russia... who the **** saw that coming, lol.
Sorry, I don't want to fill the thread with more Germany talk, but hmmm... on past form and the days overall balance of play, I think I can definitely use the word decent to summarize this Russian team... Russia could and probably should have scored at least one/two goals during the match, but after suffering a first half with major ref error, and super Germany efficiency, in the second half they were also on the other end of a simply electric Germany attacking display; well, the kind not seen since the days of biggie Prinz's generation in it's pomp. On the counter, Russia created enough dangerous moments to highlight the speed advantage they actually held over much of the German defence, but this wasn't helping them combat the excellent combination play of the German mid-field over the 90 mins though, and especially the brilliance of Marozsan knitting it all together perfectly too. I mean in the second half, an appearance from a super sharp Bajramaj just made everything even worse for the Russian's, who by then at 4-0 down had to think the worst was already over, but instead the level of play just increased further, and Russia found themselves facing something I didn't think possible for German team just yet. Seriously, I've seen this new look German team when they beat a very good Russian level Spain heavily not so long ago, and to me, that game looked nothing like what I just saw today.... I mean when you can, just take a look at some of the goals, and you'll see better teams struggle to stop what Germany produced vs a decent Russia today.
