(or are they!!)
Last time was just by invitation. This time, Australia has now officially joined ASEAN, are are playing in the 2014 AFF Suzuki Cup as a more gentle warm-up event prior to the 2015 Asian Cup Finals.
I know Australia joined ASEAN, but they haven't confirmed joining the Suzuki Cup(at least not the first team) yet. The Aussies though have been participating at the youth level. I thought that at the men's level, they still wanted to participate with the EAFF. This news changes things.
Last time Guam and Hong Kong hosted the qualification round 1 and 2 respectively. Will Macau and Taiwan host this time? But they are lack of $$$.
According to the schedule of CTFA, Taiwan is going to host the EAFF second qualification round (both men and women) in Dec 2014. The date and host city are not yet confirmed. http://www.ctfa.com.tw/download/2014schedule.pdf
Hong Kong Football Association has no intention to host the men qualification round again. Chinese Taipei Football Association has submitted the bid of EAFF second qualification round (men & women) which will be held at Taipei City Sports Park in November 2014. Guam Football Association will bid the first round. http://www.ettoday.net/news/20140217/325766.htm
Guam will play host to the preliminary competitions of both the East Asian Cup and Women's East Asian Cup in July this year. More details are forthcoming.
Someones posted fixtures on Wikipedia with games to start on 21st July. I can't find a reliable source yet though https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2015_EAFF_East_Asian_Cup

Guam Football Assoc @GuamFootball · 1h Mongolia leads 2-0 at halftime vs NMI (Goals - Tuguldur, Gal-Erdene)
Surprised me too! I thought Guam would sail through this competition; instead if they lose on Wednesday against Mongolia, they're going out. Great result for Mongolia today, by the way. Does anyone know if/where highlights from today's EAFF matches have been posted? Thanks.
Macau got lucky. We practically dominated the match and were unlucky not to score. Also, we are playing without Ryan Guy and AJ DeLaGarza.
Ryan Guy was there. Also, the referee gave a 13 minutes of stoppage time in the second half but Guam still can't score.
Another match surprised me. The only forward in Macau, Leong Ka Hang injured since last match. This affects their attacking power very much.
Northern Mariana can advance by beating Guam in last match , if Mongolia dont win against Macau. Mongolia qualify with win against Macau , if Guam dont beat Northern Mariana Isl.
