I only have enough saved up for the final at maracana :D I would honestly like to travel to different stadiums in Brazil 2014 but doubt I will do anything close to what I did in 2010

I would like to attend a world cup where you can stand and watch (like a lot of matches in south america) but doubt FIFA will allow that

    Bring on 2014

FIFA wont allow that. Gremio Arena, that I posted above, will have a large section behind one of the goals, for terraces, but in official FIFA matches, that section will receive chairs, reducing stadium capacity to 56 thousand.

you would first need a big movement in european stadiums for a return of terraces, for FIFA to allow it again all over the world.

Yep. This is why Westfalenstadion has a capacity of 80,720 for Bundesliga matches, but only 65,718 for international matches.

Well it's not that there isn't a crowd for it in Manaus.

The main problem is, the teams play in the D league. If they played in B or A there would be plenty of demand. I mean Manaus is a huge city with a very affluent middle class home to many many factories. Probably one of the better off cities in Brazil in terms of income.

Manaus has a good GDP Per Capita, but not really good income per capita. This happens in many industrial cities, where the wealth generated in the city by those industries is high but the wealth doesnt stays INSIDE the city, because the industries only have the manufacturing centers in the city, but the offices, HQs, etc, are in other cities.

the visit is this wednesday. The contract wont be signed until then, but there are reports Internacional and Andrade Gutierrez (the construction company) will have a few workers and bobcat excavators in the area on the wednesday, to mask the situation. Lets see if FIFA believes in all their promises AGAIN.

Some Grêmio fans are thinking of painting banners in english like "they are lying to you", "the works will begin NEXT WEEK - May 2011" and others, to put in the airport or in front of hotel where FIFA staff will be staying... there were plans for an airplane flying over the stadium with the "they are lying to you" banner, but there was no time for that apparently...

2014 Beira Rio Stadium Renovation Photos

The Beira Rio, SC Internacional's Stadium in Porto Alegre is one of the 2014 World Cup stadiums. It is only 1 of the 2 Private Stadiums in WC 2014 and is the only Stadium in Brazil that is being renovated WITHOUT Public Money.

Inter started the renovation slowly a few years ago and last year started work on the Lower decks. But a contract situation with the builder halted the work for almost 1 year. Finally after a big long drwn soap opera the renovation has started up again and should be complete by the end of 2013. The conflict actually is one of the reasons why Porto Alegre will not partahe of the Confederations Cup.

Here is a photo that show the lower deck with parts already demolished and a part of a newer lower deck already being put in place. The fans will be much closer to the field. In the old section you can see a Standing room secition closest to the field which will be gone. It hasn;t been used in a couple decades, but in the 80s and before was a tradition spot for cheap tickets but horrible viewing angle. The moat will also be gone.

A new roof will go in the stadium and also new lights, not to mention dozens of other things in and around the stadium. It will practically be a new stadium when its done. Most of the work is being done without actually closing the stadium. This photo is from a few days back in a Libertadores match between Inter and Santos.

Here is one video that shows what the outside of the stadium will look like: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwNrteTh61A"]Novo Beira-Rio - YouTube[/ame]

This is a slice of what the renovated stadium will look ike for the World Cup.

INTER will also be as far as I know, the only team in the world to own a Stadium that has hosted two different World Cups. Inter old stadium The Eucaliptos hosted a few matched at the 1950 Brazil World Cup.

This video, shows a bit of history of Inter Stadium starting in 1909, going through that 1950 WC Stadium, to the Beira Rio built in 1969 on the water and the current renovation.

Really nice video. Great animation work.

Re: 2014 Beira Rio Stadium Renovation Photos

thats a lie. It is the only stadium in the WORLD CUP that is being renovated without public money.

at least thats what we think, because the president of the country had to intervene with Andrade Gutierrez so they would sign the contract to renovate your stadium. Who knows what the president promised to AG? Maybe billions of dollars in public sector contracts?

furthermore, Grêmio is building a NEW stadium without public money, Palmeiras is building a NEW stadium without public money, and São Paulo is renovating their stadium without public money.

and Arena da Baixada (Atletico Paranaense) and Arena de São Paulo (Corinthians) are controversial in their use of public money, meaning their supporters say they are NOT using public money, while detractors say they are...

the reason Porto Alegre will not receive the Confederations Cup is that the local politicians were chickens and did not change the city World Cup stadium to the Grêmio Arena, which will be LARGER than Beira Rio, much more modern and brand new. And will be ready in december 2012, in time for the Confederations Cup.

they will be 10 meters closer, which is NOTHING, since the oval shape of the stadium means they are VERY far away. They will still be about 30 meters distant from the field behind the goals and about 20 meters at the sidelines.

    what a joke

which is the reason it will be the LAST stadium ready for the World Cup... IF it gets done in time. December 2013... what a joke. You should close the stadium ASAP and leave it closed until the reforms end.

the entire city of Porto Alegre is risking losing the World Cup because you are PLAYING with the deadlines, because you made a compromise but dont care about it, only care about not closing your stadium!

Get out of here Gremista invejoso. I was talking about World Cup stadiums, nobody cares about non WC Stadiums being built in Brazil. Nobody cares that your team is building a new stadium since it will not be used in the Cup. So stop being a troll.

Merged. It does make sense to have one comprehensive thread.

Now let's stick to actual world cup stadia, ok?

I really hope you guys can finish this. Great project. It is already nice to watch games there, it will just be better.

I was always in favor of a shared stadium, but it seems impossible today. At least both will have great homes!

SoccerScout, we all know the only reason your stadium is being built is because the state governor and the president of Brazil are colorados, and made everything possible to keep it on the Cup despite over 2 years of delays and incredible incompetence from your club directors.

plus, everyone believed in the fantastic complex your team promised to build, without presenting any garantees they could do it, with the only intention of earning fiscal incentives and tax breaks.

furthermore, Grêmio Arena will be part of the World Cup as a support stadium (probably the first time in World Cup story that a larger, BETTER, NEWER stadium, in the same city, wont be used for the World Cup)...

I did not create this thread to be grenalized!

I am not a moderator, so there is nothing I can do about as ask you to stop. I will even avoid answering the "story" of our rivalry to not fuel this insanity anymore.

When Aces published the photos of Grêmio's Arena, Beira-Rio condition as a World Cup stadium was at stake. Now that the reform has restarted, there is no reason to put more of it.

Beira-Rio is in, and it is ok.

    Best.

Beira Rio was NEVER at stake. Thats all in your fantasies and imagination. FIFA never suggested Gremios stadium could take over.

All the Gremio Arena photos SHOULD BE DELETED AS IS IS NOT A WORLD CUP STADIUM. And people looking just at photos and not reading will be fooled.

If you cannot stand seeing them, stop looking...

I do not know if you realized but there are also photos of Independencia and Arena Palestra.
