I thought this might make for an interesting thread with only 11 days until the first kick. 1. Maurice Edu will be a solid addition but he won't score before May or make the World Cup roster. 2. Okugo and Berry will combine for 4+ goals from the CB position. 3. Danny Cruz will start more than 15 games in the league. 4. The Union will struggle with injuries this year. 5. MacMath will start the entire season. 6. The Union will make the playoffs, finishing 4th in the Eastern Conference. Many will want Hackworth fired...but he won't be and Sakiewicz will talk about how much the team has improved.
1) Macmath traded; Blake earns Jamaica call up 2) While playing a 25% of his total minutes, Ribero has a combined point total 2.5 times that of Cruz 3) Cruz starts a third of all games 4) Keon acquires a taste for shrimp 5) With regards to a former teammate Berry sports a "C'mon Bro" shirt he reveals after scoring his first goal
1. Zac gets traded before expansion drafts. 2. Ribiero becomes a starter and scores ten goals. 3. Keon, Lahoud and Cruz all start fewer than ten MLS games. 4. USOC semis. 5. Four seed in playoffs. 6. Carroll is not protected in expansion draft. 7. Casey is not protected in expansion draft. 8. One of those two retires. 9. Jack Mac scores fifteen goals. 10. Edu does well and becomes a full transfer from Stoke.
1. The team makes the playoffs despite Danny Cruz starting the majority of matches. 2. LeToux become a bench fixture. 3. Edu has a successful one and done season, fails to make the World Cup squad, goes back overseas. 4. Jack teases us with a month of greatness, goes cold until October. 5. Farewell season for Jack, Okugo, Carroll, Casey. 6. Zac steps his game up and Blake ends up being a bust. 7. Berry becomes a fan favorite after the "C'mon Bro" t-shirt incident. 8. The practice facility is indefinitely delayed and no one loses their Lot B parking this season. 9. Hack will receive a midseason contract extension regardless of record. 10. Despite this being Hack's team Big Soccer will continue to "blame Nowak." Honorable Mention 11. The SOBs start strong with a renewed sense of excitement, but this is the year we see a viable second supporters group start to develop.
I thought it was pretty positive. Team makes the playoffs. Positive. Edu has a successful season. Positive. Jack and Zac do well. Positive. We drop Carroll. Positive. And people keep their parking. Positive.
But Cruz starts a ton of games. Leaves after 2014. Jack has one good month, dry spell until the Fall, leaves after the season. Blake sucks. I didn't see where the Union dropped him. But no proper training facility, bro? Yeah, just oozing with positivity. Are you no longer a card-carrying SoB?
@Dills I am. And I am active within the SoB ranks, I'm doing Jeff Mitchell's St. Baldricks thing with the SoBs. I'm just more active with Bearfight Brigade and Bearfight FC.
1. The team makes the last playoff position and is knocked out in the first round. 2. Edu puts in a solid season and is recalled by Stoke at the end of the year. 3. Casey retires due to age and injuries. 4. Caroll is traded. 5. Blake turns out to be a bust. MacMath keeps his starting job. 6. Ribeiro becomes a starter by the end of the season. 7. Wheeler is released. 8. Cruz starts a majority of games but plays 90 in less than 4 of them. 9. Construction on the training facilities is delayed indefinitely.
Isn't Bearfight Brigade just a sub-group of SOB? I mean I don't think of them as a separate supporters group. They are more like a spin-off.
BFB is the Mork and Mindy to the SoB's Happy Days. ------------ My predictions: 1. Brian Carroll pulls a Chris Albright, becomes an unofficial player-coach, retires at year's end 2. McInerney wins the 2014 Golden Boot 3. Blake is the real deal and usurps MacMath for the starting spot by May 4. Team makes a nice run in the playoffs; gains prominence in Philly sports scene 5. Team goes to the USOC final 6. Team exercises purchase option on Edu before Christmas
1. Ribeiro becomes a starter by mid season 2. Keon looses his visa again 3. PPL becomes a fortress this year 4. The pork roll hot dog becomes MVP 5. USOC finals appearence 6. 3rd seed in playoffs 7. beer served out of the USOC trophy They are a "registered" supporters group with the union, but have asked to not be listed as such officially… We don't try to steal the thunder of the SOB, but bearfight has carved out a section of 136, and has its own functions and events outside of what the SOB does. I think you will see the group grow larger and larger as more people transfer into 136 to be closer to the brigade.
1. 4th place finish, and win a playoff game. 2. Attendance up on last year, thanks to Edu & World Cup boosts. 3. Longer than ever delays getting out of lot B. 4. Crash out of USOC early to someone other than DC, for a change. 5. Jack takes over from SLT as all time top scorer. 6. Another thunderstorm game, a la Chivas, best time of the year.
7. Constant whining by the fans 8. A mid-summer friendly against a European club 9. Heckling the away bench from CIX 10. Winning the Turkey Hill hidden-ball game on the jumbo tron.
I'm doing it too, though I'm a few years in arrears on dues 1 - SLT is left unprotected and becomes the first twice expansion drafted MLS player and multi national journeyman B - Team starts slow, scoring 4 goals in first 5 games, but still in the thick of the East. 3 - USOC stunner to Ocean City in first round road match, blow softened because everyone has a "really nice day at the beach" 4 - Team sits in 3rd in mid-August, only 5 points back of first and six of the SS 5 - Injuries to Casey and No Guy Ruh force Wheeler and Cruz into the lineup and the team finishes 6th. 6 - Fans begin laying out enumerated 2015 prediction lists
