Lima only played in 14 starting 13 games but I don't think he was hurt too long because he didn't arrive until like July in 2008 after he came from Brescia....

Doyle is excited about this German guy. We're just waiting to see if he still has the motor to run at MLS level. Barklage is making around 80k. So would this German guy. Barklage has a higher cross completion rating than Beita did, and that was with no target forwards in NY's system.

so, i guess this is what passes for the preseason thread for now?

at the party thurs nite, i shook hands with both TT and JBP. they both seemed a little startled to be recognized, but were nice. Tommy says he's rehabbing a bit right now working on his own, so probably awhile before we see him.

hope the new players enjoy the camraderie and start to gel with the veterans quickly. we're gonna need a fast start in the league and some goals against Toluca to have any hope of advancing.

Any idea what he is rehabbing from?

Javier Alvial is only 22. He's bounced around a bit, but clearly, he's still a young player. He's a left back, so as long as he's a backup to Jordan, he should be OK. Oh, and he's a US Citizen, so even though he's from the Chilean leagues, he doesn't count as "foreign."

And it's true that we've got some guys who are 31 or so and still quite good. Still, these are not exciting signings, in the way that a starting forward from the Chilean Nats would be. Even so, they might be good, or at least one or two fo them might be good enough to help.

I'm still hoping for another more big time signing though.

    go quakes!!

3 out of 4 are midfielders in their 20s. I like that.

I so hope he gets a 2nd opinion from the Stanford pain clinic...from their back pain geeks, and doesn't just rely on the Quakes' medical people only. Also, I so hope he would eat paleo and realizes Jordan Stewart may have a lot of things right, but too much wrong. He's young enough to fix fast.

He went to see a specialist in Vancouver they apparently found whatever the problem was. I hope he is ready to go.

I think you guys need to make it clear to each other which Tommy you are talking about, Thompson or Muller. I thought Muller was the one with the back problems and so he went to see a specialist in Vancouver. While willykirk mentions TT which I'm guessing is Thompson.

Yep- was referring to Thompson. His trouble has been his knee. Tore his meniscus in High School. Graduated early and went to IU as a 17 yr old?? Wow- even more impressed.

Went through this with blurryblue, who helped me sort it out. I think he turned 18 last August, which means he had just about turned 18 at the time he started IU. So he was basically an "old" junior in high school when he left to go to college.

The knee thing worries me. He missed maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of the IU season also because of a (knee?) injury. But when he came back from that injury at the end of their season, seems like he was playing better than ever right from the get-go. And now he's rehabbing again?

He probably rushed back to play the final part of the college season. At that point in time he probably wasn't expecting to play again until the 2014 college season.

What four midfielders? Our list of trialists is: Gustavo Zamudio (M), Javier Alvial (D), Tishan Hanley (M), and Andreas Gorlitz (D). Do we know of any more?

I must say that I'm getting concerned. It's February 3rd. Our guys are on their way to Tucson today. We have a preseason game on Wednesday. Our last stretch of pre-season games is 23Feb, 26Feb, and 1Mar. If we are going to sign any more players, we need to do so right away. I don't care if we sign a killer Estonian, or a killer Panamanian. We need to get a move on. If this is all we're doing, then we're going into the season under-prepared, just like last season. We jettisoned a bunch of guys, got a boat load of allocation money, and now we aren't going to use it?! We're saving it for next season?! Is that it?!

Am I missing something? I haven't seen any rumors that even say we're looking at someone.

So just those four trialists, yes?

    go quakes!

the college season is so short if you get an injury it can ruin your entire season... that happened to mamadou diof at uconn and reed williams at ucla this year. imagine beitashour's 2013 season... first half terrible, second half finally got his form back... if that was a college season it would have just gone down as a terrible season.

As expected not a very exciting bunch...Beana is a 30 year old MF who last played in the Columbian 2nd Division. Welsh is an undrafted rookie FA who played D for UCSB. Otsemobor is a 30 year old free agent English RB with extensive experience, but who's career seems to be on a downward spiral from EPL, to 2nd and most recently 3rd Division.

Agreed Quakesss, I was just trying to cover the newly listed guys. Our friend from Germany certainly seems like he has the most upside.

The guy from England may be sliding down a bit, but we have seemed to have done pretty well with guys from there lately with Dawkins and Stewart, so who knows. Will be interesting to see who is still around when they return from Arizona.

This guy was in third division.. I'm hoping for the best, but Dawkins and Stewart have been 1/2nd div guys.
