Haha. They also selected Josh Gros in the fourth round that day 10 years ago. Now if they find another gem like Gros with the 56th pick today, THAT would make my day and save some kittens.

So Adu is only one year older than Birnbaum?

I think I read yesterday 19 months - or maybe that was one of the other players we might pick :)

We traded our pick to Philly.

    Spot swap plus allocation.

probably a "gentleman's agreement" part of the Parke trade :)

Doubt it. Seems like a result of not getting Edu (league denying them)

Did Philly think we'd take Blake, or are they trading the #1 for something better too?

I disagree that Mullin "can't help with distribution." In the games i watched that was one of his strengths.

But let's get creative. Can we draft a General Manager?

They were likely worried we would trade the #1 spot to another team that wanted Blake and they gave us some amount more of allocation to trade with them instead.

So we get allocation money "and more to be announced" and get the player we wanted in the draft anyway - good job DK. dumb on Philly they could have had same player at #2

edit: good point shammy, I heard Van may have wanted him as well

Birnbaum. The man we always wanted, per Goff

Dean goes 3rd to Vancouver - it'll be interesting to look in 3-4 years who took the better defender overall.

I think Birnbaum was the best of the two choices for 2014, but even that could be wrong.

Unless their GK really, really sucks I gotta think that Philly totally wasted their #1 choice

Let's trade the #6 allocation for the #6 pick. :devilish:

    Edit: meant #6 allocation

These picks are a bit wonky. Mullins dropped so hard

Surprised as Dean would have hit the cap far less than Birnbaum and thought he would fit in as LB as well as CB better.

Hope I am wrong, least we got an allocation for the pick swap.
