Trey has been warning for a while of a potential Sunday playoff game. I think the game is locked in for Sunday.
The Jazz always seem to manage sell outs for Sunday playoff games. I'm not saying RSL would definitely sell out, but I'd be surprised if attendance were to drop below 17k or so. I think the team would have a harder time with the quick turnaround.
Yes - on the mothership ESPN - I bet there is no way the front office will get 17,000 for that game - there has been zero advertising (avoiding the jinx) - so you'll have a certain percentage of season ticket holders who won't attend because it's on Sunday - and guessing the price, short turn-around and the opponent will result in a really perplexing sea of open seats for the opening game of the Western Conference Finals - The MLS playoff scheduling is pretty much a disaster - - No national television for last night's semi-final games - - Scheduling the Portland / Seattle marquee match-up the same night as the Oregon-Stanford game. - An unnecessary two week break between Conference final games (not aware of any MLS player involved in int'l break) - Know your markets - give your teams some time to sell tickets and make it convenient for the fans so the casual fan tuning in sees it as a big event and doesn't change the channel -
I've been hoping that the "2014 Western Conference Championship Tickets" currently on sale is a big enough jinx on LA's part to get around our habit of losing big games at home. Not totally relevant but the avoiding the jinx comment got me. Carry on
I thought the same thing watching the game last Sunday - Karma baby! I guess once you've won a couple trophies in a row you're OK to mess with the soccer gods......
don't hurt yourself patting your back so hard (I can't view image at work, so not sure what it is...)
So I was sitting at the game with my STH scarf thinking, "Wow, this thing is nice and warm." Then I thought, "How hot it this thing in July?" I don't know if there are any RSL office types that frequent this board, but I thought a summer-weight STH scarf would make a nice STH gift for some future year, just so I can avoid ESNS (extremely sweaty neck syndrome).
Any word on whether they will introduce multigame vouchers that can be exchanged online or by phone? That's as close as I can really get to season tix these days, but going down to Sandy to exchange them is a deal breaker.
Still haven't gotten mine in the mail. Should I be worried? One other thing. Section 25, get ready for the sequel to "the horse".
I wish this wasn't an afternoon game, because it's one of the few Saturdays all year that I really CAN'T skip commitments. If I was going, I'd totally take that so all my fellow BS posters could laugh and say hello.
Mine were sent to my old man's house yesterday - the address I have on file as I don't trust the mail at my apartment. Funny side note: My dad's DIDN'T come yesterday.
Mine still haven't come today. Why do they wait so long to send these out. I remember when we played at Rice Eccles, you would get them month before hand
Ditto. They must be challenged with the extra big volume. I can hear it now "You don't understand. It's hard. There are so many tickets we have to coordinate and ship!"
if you don't have them by tomorrow (Thursday, 3/20) you're supposed to contact your ticket rep. I'm guessing they could get you a temporary ticket if worse came to worse.
