I thought it might be appropriate to have a running thread for the reserve games.

The Red Bulls played their first Reserve League match of the season, yesterday, losing to the Fire 2-1. It looks like everybody played that isn't playing for the first team.

The Red Bulls used a player, a forward, who doesn't appear on the roster, Sam Adjei, who probably is this player since he is an Academy/St. Benedict's product. Arun Basuljevic and Chris Lema also apparently got time.

Obekopy to Akpan for the goal.

Nice to see all these guys get some game time. Honestly can't wait for the reserve league to fold and the USL sides to take over.

What's with all the games against lower division teams? Are other MLS clubs not fielding reserve teams this year?

They are playing just an 8 game season. I doubt the reserve league will last much longer than this season.

I'm still looking for a game report, but the US U-20s beat Fluminense in OT last night in the Dallas Cup Semis. Castano and Miazga both went the distance. The US played a man down for much of the second half and OT. Castano saved the US team's bacon at least couple of times with clutch saves. They rematch with River Plate in the final on Sunday.

    U-20s into Final.

I always hate when we get that ref, so inconsistent. The conditions made for some ugly soccer and probably lead to the injuries. (two for the Battery and the one to NY)

here is a good wrap up of the match

In ccase anyone was wondering no one who played in that game looked ready to challenge for a spot in the starting lineup. Our starting midfield I thought was really poor, especially in the middle (Lade, Bustamante and Bover) with plenty of unforced errors. Obekop dribbled nicely when he was subbed in but didnt play enough to make a real assessment. Defense was okay, Miazga had a good 70 mins and then had a couple mental lapses at the end. Wingbacks were okay to be fair and Eck was meh. Up top forwards did not have enough service to really judge them. Maybe its a lack of sharpness because they haven't played a game in a while but it was a bit disappointing.

great for him and he can come back ready to challenge Dax for some reserve time hopefully. I wish Obekop went on loan

Awesome, until the USL affiliate is in place they should really be making more of these loan deals.
