Since the preseason is over, and the old thread got to 100 pages, it's time for a new thread about signings and trades that happen during the season. Our first move- SkyBlue signs Meg Morris.

She got cut from the Spirit camp and went to SkyBlue.

Expect the Flash to announce the signing of Bermudez in the next few days.

She is a NJ native from Montclair, bringing the SB roster up to 20. Meg was undrafted out of UNC. So far, no international signing to use that 2014 int'l roster spot (plus a first round pick in '15) from the Devanna trade.

Using my comments from another thread, this brings total of 9 players undrafted out of college making rosters. So a total of 35 players just out of college on rosters.

That shows just how deep this last draft class was, that players who may have escaped notice for whatever reason are still quality enough to join a team.

Yep. They had to clear a roster spot, and also have a backup plan in case something went wrong.

They tweeted the waiver at about 10 am today. Step 2 should be announced tomorrow afternoon, after the 24 hr waiver period ends. Hola España!

Well, apparently they're going after Austrian forward Nina Burger, but that was in the works before this injury. It's an option they might pursue.

I've been looking forward to her joining the club for a while now. And it makes sense that Meier was the one cut. WNY already has a strong midfield with plenty of options, but the forward depth was a little thin. The game next month against KC might be trouble with quite a few players missing for international duty, but after that, we should be set.

Once Morris demonstrated the ability to play outside back with Washington, SkyBlue became interested in their attempt to collect every defender in the league.

That's their master plan sense they don't have any forwards. If they hoard all the defenders then other teams won't have any and then SBFC offense will look masterful. It's a brilliant plan really. Not sure why I haven't thought of it before.

You beat both BlueCrimson and me to the punch. Good work! I've looked at the Spain WNT schedule, and it appears that 3 WNY games may be impacted by callups to Spain, but NOT during playoffs, assuming it will matter by then (knock on wood). I will post more details tonight.

The Flash article said her addition to the roster is pending receipt of her P1-Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC). Does that take awhile or is it just pro forma?

For the most part, it hasn't been a problem. See: all the other internationals that have come in to the league easily.

Some teams or federations are bad about the paperwork, though. For example, Lori Chalupny was supposed to play in Russia after WPS folded, but went to Chicago for 2012 after paperwork fell through. I think something similar happened with one of the Brazilians that Tyreso recently signed.

Based on what Parsons told us, she was on the bubble for the Spirit, so he cut her loose so she'd have a chance to catch on with some other team. He was ready to bring her back in if that didn't happen.

The only ones I know of are the games on the 3rd and the 7th next month. After that we should have both Vicky and Sonia available for the rest of the season. That'll be helpful with Kerr gone for most of May and Abby and Lloyd missing a few in June for the France matches.
