Just because he plays at winger does not mean Dom thinks he is a winger. Dom played him at winger because he could get playing time at winger last year and it's not bad for a forward to get time at winger to work on crossing, passing, etc. Plus he does the job of a winger (on the left) better than most other options on the team when Davis is out or Driver is out.

I understand that, but in the recent games that I've seen him he has been slowing the play up trying to dribble and turning it over. I'd rather he do that up top than in the midfield. Go at the players in the attacking third without disrupting the flow of the attack as much.

Sorry - late on the match. Too much going on. Let's say Pitts was dominate, should have won. Lisch looked comfortable in nets as did Arena on back line. The 3-5-2 has displanted a couple of quality defenders to get more midfielders action. Possession is the result, but goals still a bit tough to come by. JJ was servicable up top but lacked a solid mate because of injuries, suspension and family issues. Had the front line scorers been available, the Hounds would likely have won. Ngweyna was once again dangerous. Ownby didn't travel after mid-week call up. Salazar watched from bench (at least he was dressed). Biggest question right now is why Coach Evans failed to make key defensive subs last week while leading Richmond 2-0 resulting in tie and then failed to make 1 sub Saturday for seemingly no particular reason when strikers were completely gassed. For example, he could have brought Marshall on to play back and moved Earles to midfield or Green up top. Oh well, last year they lost 4 and tied 1 before a win and made playoffs following 10 match unbeaten streak so who knows what the future brings. 3 ties and 2 losses that include 3 road matches against arguably 2 of leagues best teams (Orlando and Richmond) isn't a total disaster.

Riverhounds again play well and outplay league leading Orlando most of second half, but again fall to questionable referee decision at home. After seeing the tying goal reversed against Wilmington, the Hounds saw a clear penalty kick decision reversed and the opportunity to tie match evaporate. In both instances the center referee who commands the box allowed the A/R to convince the cetner to change his call. There were several more muggings in the box by Orlando that the center chose to ingnore resulting in another tough loss.

Lisch was sharp, challenged only on a couple of occasions and beaten once on a break down in the back against Orlando's speedy and clinical attack. Arena was still with Dynamo along with Ownby but the Hound's 4-4-2 was effective and created a number scoring chances. Still missing a couple of key players due to injury and suspension, Orlando's keeper was tested and made great saves on several near scores. JJ entered late in second half but again showed promise with his speed and strength and helped changed the Hounds attack from the wings to straight down the gut with quick one touch passes.

Let's hope the change of opponents (4 of first 6 matches and 3 on road against arguably 2 best teams - Orlando and Richmond) and a change of luck get the team on the right track for rest of season.

Wonder how Pittsburgh feels about the arrangement at this point. Unfortunate that the Dynamo have had so many injuries and suspensions resulting in a need to shuffle players in and out.

Not a problem - that's the way it's supposed to work. Pitt let wins against Richmond and Charlston slip away and referees denied ties against Wilmington and Orlando.

Plus we shipped them Lisch when they had injuries. It's a two-way street.

I don't know if there will be a stream for this game or not.
I expect that the Dynamo players will be held out of this game to avoid them becoming cup-tied to Pittsburgh but maybe not.

Hounds win US Open Cup match 3-1 (Red Bulls U-23 get a PK). Good momentum for Sat. match with Rochester Rhinos who have benefited from Pitt playing Charleston and Orlando tough matches the night before their matches.

Only Dynamo player on pitch for Pitt was Lisch who continues to get steady work and looks very comfortable and capable in nets.

Needing firepower, Hounds could have full compliment of strikers on pitch Sat. (Collins John, Jose Angulo, Jason Johnson and possibly Johnny Arteaga). Looking forward to 4-4-2 alignment with midfield the key. Last 3 matches - ties with Charleston (0-0) and Richmond (2-2) and loss to Orlando (o-1).

Arena did start and play that game. It was against the Rochester Rhinos in USL Pro league action. That's why I listed the roster for that game under the score of the Riverhounds-Rhinos game.

Buzz99 had in the previous post stated that Lisch was the only Dynamo that played in the Open Cup game against the Red Bulls U23s so I didn't list the lineup for that game.

Honestly, I would like to see more of these younger guys cup-tied to Pittsburgh. It may force Dom to play some higher tier guys in the run up for the cup and maybe take it a bit more seriously.

That's probably exactly why they didn't play. Dom doesn't want to be forced into anything.
