I would like to revise my previous statement, and state I hope, but can't guarantee, that the Fire will at least twice as many games, since, as of now we are tied with Orlando, NY2, Miami and Atlanta.
Hoping for twice as many wins as them is the most pessimistic view possible. #learnyourzerotimestables
I am optimistic that we are going to see player is some great uniforms that really represent the City of Chicago. Of course, they won't be on the Fire, but this is the Optimist Thread, and I want something to be optimistic about tomorrow.
There are rumors Chicarito is being courted by some MLS teams. I know, even though Chicago would probably make the most sense for him, we probably won't make a push for him, but it's possible.
Talk about a guy that would fill the seats, that would be awesome. A big time Mexican or Polish player would do wonders for the Bridgeview Fire
I really wish this double header wasn't on the Saturday before Easter. My wife's family still gets together in Barrington to dye Easter eggs on Sat night. The fact that it's going to be beautiful out just adds to the pain. Well, at least my Father-in-law has an 80' TV and a wine/scotch cellar.
Wow, how do you fit an 80 foot tv in a basement? That is optimistic. I like the idea of the scotch cellar.
Considering their relative ages at the time (with Blanco at the tail end of his career), Chicarito would be a way better player for the Fire than Blanco. He would not make the Fire as terrifically hated as we were with Blanco, but Chicarito would be better on the field. Not going to happen, though. Rumors are he is going to Spain or back to Mexico.
A win tomorrow and the Chicago will leap over at least three teams. A draw in the Houston-Philly game or a DC loss to Columbus would be enough to see Chicago end the week in a playoff spot. A perfect weekend (depending on how you feel about Columbus remaining 5 points ahead of us), sees the Fire jump into a tie for 3rd with Sporting (though KC would have a game in hand).
I honestly don't know if that's true. Without service from a Blanco, could Chicarito make as big of a difference a as Blanco did? Even if he's a better player, what he does isn't as independent as what Blanco did.
If Chicarito comes here, I'm going to start talking to my mother in law every day in person. Not gonna happen.
Don't you think he would be equally big in terms of drawing people to watching the Fire though? I think he'd be a bigger draw than pretty much everyone in MLS these days.
True, but Blanco was a legend. People came out to cheer and jeer him. Not the same for the little pea.
